Default Boston Globe has me seriously thinking about moving

Since November all of a sudden the Boston Globe in my area has stopped including the Valassis inserts. Since there are 2 of them today I'm doubly pissed off. Keep in mind that this paper costs $2.50 and its the only paper in SE Mass that carries decent coupons. Extra salt on the wound... I know that the Globe still carries the Valassis inserts in other parts of the state.

So anyone shopping in SE MA today, if you encounter an angry, annoyed, jerky shopper I apologize in advance.

Aww, I'm sorry! My BG in Ashland had all the inserts. Do you know anyone who lives closer to the city who could pick them up for you?

I do have one person but I dont see her often enough for it to work out. Last time I had her get me one half the coupons were expired.

I actually drove to 5 or 6 towns/cities on Sunday with my 3yo. She was such a little trooper. I think I'm going to have to break down and subscribe already. I'm nervous to do that though because I'm worried that if I dont get inserts in those, I'll be paying for papers that I seriously dont need. At least if I get them at the store I have the control of paying for a paper with inserts or not.

I get my paper delivered and if the coupons are missing I call them and let them know. They redeliver, no questions asked.

Don't bother with a subscription to the Globe, I get home delivery and never get all the coupon inserts. This weekend I really wanted all the coupons and of course didn't get them in the Globe so I bought the Herald and that paper did have all 5 inserts.

I feel your pain... just don't move to metro NY (suburbs are ok). You will hate the inserts even more LOL - but I used to live in Boston so I feel your pain there too.

I work for a newspaper, so in defense of them......

Remember, it is not(usually) the newspaper that decided not to include an insert in certain delivery areas. The advertiser more than likely requested targeted or zoned delivery. You should still call the newspaper to check though.

The Newspapers are paid to insert these, so they would insert into every paper if possible.

In my area, some of the inserts are zoned NOT to be inserted into single copy papers (the ones you buy in the store, no subscription) There are several reasons, they may want "homeowners" or people with a certain income. They often use targeted inserts to test the market.

I live in VT and buy the Globe every weekend when there are coupons. The Globes here had all 5 sections of coupons this past Sunday.

Our two Globes contained extra coupons; I am in Cambridge. Do you have recycle bins you can check near your home?

Because the papers are $2.50, I only purchase when 3+ inserts are due.
