If I got the values that you poor guys do with the Globe, I would want to move too. ;-) Makes the Philadelphia market here seem almost generous!

I want to live where I do and get the Florida papers. Dreams are so nice...

Aw man! I was seriously hoping that the subscription would be a better option. I didnt realize that the Herald has all the inserts. I thought they only did Smartsource. I think I have my solution now. Thank you for that info!

Remember, it is not(usually) the newspaper that decided not to include an insert in certain delivery areas. The advertiser more than likely requested targeted or zoned delivery. You should still call the newspaper to check though.

The Newspapers are paid to insert these, so they would insert into every paper if possible.

In my area, some of the inserts are zoned NOT to be inserted into single copy papers (the ones you buy in the store, no subscription) There are several reasons, they may want "homeowners" or people with a certain income. They often use targeted inserts to test the market.
What gets me though is that I used to get all the inserts every week and they just all of a sudden dropped them. And its not like its just my city (which is pretty big), I drove to several other towns too and none of them had any. I even crossed counties to see if that made a difference. Once I even drove to Dedham to get papers which is a good 40 minute ride for me. I refuse to do that every week though.

Oh and my mom, who lives one town over (its dinky with like 1000 residents) gets them in the mail every Saturday and she has no idea why!

Because the papers are $2.50, I only purchase when 3+ inserts are due.
I dont really have any recycle bins that I can go through without it being really visible. I've been tempted but my DH would freak out if he saw me "going through the neighbors' trash!" My street has a bunch of men who always try to outdo each other so I wouldn't want to knock DH down a notch!

Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel better all ready!

Does the Herald get different coupons than the Globe? I may have to buy a Herald tomorrow...

oh and my dad and I live in the same town and both get The Globe on Sunday. Last week I got 3 McDonald's coupons and he got 1! He got the Toys R Us circular and I didn't. I think it is the people putting them together that cause some of the insonsistencies. you know?

UPDATE: I bought a Globe and a Herald today. As expected, the Globe didn't have the RP but much to my delight the Herald DID! There are a few more coupons in the SS in the Globe but not enough for me to waste the extra money on it so I am now a Herald gal all the way!

I bought a Globe and Herald too - I though the SS in the Globe was better. I got 2 inserts in my Globe and I got 2 inserts in my Herald - did you get 2 or 3 in the Herald? I didn't notice anything that said RP.

In the Globe I only got the SmartSource. In the Herald I got two inserts. One SmartSource and one Red Plum (Valassis). I definitely agree that the Globe SS was better. I think on weeks when there is going to be a Red Plum, I may just buy one Globe and one Herald from now on.
