Re: Rude cashier at a Dollar General When I was a cashier, I made an awful mistake of joking with a customer about their credit card.
I was 15, just started working and didn't know any better that this was something you just did not joke around with a customer. The customer completely chewed me out and I had to go to the break room to calm down because I was on the verge of crying/quitting. I had meant it as a light hearted joke and I thought I had said it as such but the customer apparently thought I meant differently. They probably thought I was very rude and I didn't mean to be. I worked at that store for 5 years and that 1 experience still sticks out in my head 13 years later. I'm so happy I didn't quit because of that experience, but situations like that seriously influence a person and how they should act.
I don't know what the cashier said to you that made you think she was overly rude or hateful, but hopefully you told her how to handle the situation should it ever arise again for them. Probably telling them that coupons are something that you use to save money and that other people probably use them to and to just give the coupon back if it doesn't work if it happens again would help her out a lot. I hope she doesn't get chewed out at work for such an innocent mistake. (like I said, I don't know what she said but I think throwing out a coupon is an innocent mistake)
I hope you have a better experience at dollar general next time!
