I have GE Profile appliances and my dishwasher just got fixed last week for the same problem. The main board on the thing was blown. There seem to be a lot of problems w/ GE products lately.
We moved into an apartment complex a couple months ago and it had brand new appliances in it (they're about a year old). A couple weeks ago, we reported that our fridge was making a very loud noise (it sounded like someone was vacuuming next door every time our fridge kicked on). GE came out to fix it and told us that our motor was going out. I wouldn't believe that. A motor should not go out on a fridge in a year. That's ridiculous.
Well, last night I went to unload the dishwasher and noticed that none of our dishes were clean. I then noticed there was a ton of water in the bottom of the dishwasher. He had never drained while it was running through it's cycle. I reported it to the front office and now GE has to come out again.
So in the past two weeks we have had to have GE come out twice to fix two different brand new appliances. Whenever we buy a house, there will never be a single GE appliance in it.

My 6 year old GE washer overfills, and for now I am babysitting it and turning the water off at the wall in between cycles. I bought the part that I thought would work, and it didn't, so now I am thinking t might be the computer. I don't have the $ for a brand new machine right now, but I also don't feel like spending $200 to have it fixed either. Blah!
I wouldn't limit it to just GE. We purchased all new appliances when we renovated the house in '06 and ALL of them but the washer and dryer have broken in one way or another.
Fridge-frigidaire - water dispenser after a year. This will cost an arm and a leg and we've put of repairing it.
Range hood microwave-frigidaire - handle broke off after one year AND the display thing has burned out lights. It's LED, so I don't know how that works. The handle, the plastic handle that has no moving parts, was 90. dollars to replace.
Dishwasher - Maytag - handle broke, the rollie things for the upper rack broke (38. dollars), and now some of the tray parts are rusting.
Stove - GE - Glass top. Front burner no longer works.
These are upper end appliances by these brands, not the crap ones. We are not hard on our belongings, they are just cheap pieces of doo doo.
These are so fun!
I don't like GE either. We moved into our new house in April 2008, the GE Spacemaker Microwave was new. About 1 year after the turntable stopped working. This past spring I had to replace the entire unit because it stopped working all together.
I have NEVER had a microwave break, I have replaced them but never had one break. We were in our house in Florida for and got a new WHIRLPOOL microwave and after 5 years of using it never a problem. It worked when we sold our house.
I have ALWAYS had Whirlpool until we moved into this house that came with GE appliances. Now I just count the days until I can REPLACE Them with another brand (microwave is samsung so I might go that route). My oven and dishwasher aren't the cheapest and the fridge I bought was over $1400 (stupid me bought GE so they would all match) that was on clearance because it was a special order someone had returned and there wsa nothing wrong with it. I have always felt GE was "cheap" only one step above Roper and Magic Chef.

We never had big problems with GE, but we did have problems. We stick to Whirlpool and Maytag now. Sure they are a little more expensive, but they're worth it.
Sorry to hear about your appliance problems though. Those can be a pain, since you constantly worry about whether you will have to get a brand new one (and they are outrageously expensive!).

We now buy the extended warranties. We bought Maytag washer and dryer last May 07 and had to have a heat fuse changed every 2 months until they decided after 4 trips to change the sensor and I have not had a problem. Since then we have decided the extended warranties are worth the time money and aggravation.

when I bought my house in april of 06 it had all new GE appliences.
one year and one week later my ice maker quit. 150.00 to fix it. 63 days later it quit again. I aint fixin it.
the stove SUCKS. I hate glass top.
the sad thing is, 2 years and 9 days after I bought the house the AC motor quit.
In my old house my fridge was 23 years old, going strong. I had a second that almost 30. (nice green fridge) my Freezer was 15, Microwave was 15, the stove and oven were 30 plus.
Just thinking about not having them makes me want to cry. LOL
