Let's see...hmmm....the loser or the bigger loser....it's so hard.
Yep, I know this is a firecracker issue. The candidates though deserve their own support threads, and this thread will be for debating the tickets and parties themselves.
KEEP IT CIVIL. Do not make personal attacks. If you do, you will be infracted. If this thread is not conducted in a respectful manner, it will be locked.
Please understand that this is HUTC, and the rules are looser here. If you post, be ready for your opinion to be questioned and commented on. You personally should not be criticized, but your opinion is fair game.
Game on!

I'm an Obama supporter (and a Democrat) for several reasons. This is my first presidential election as the parent of a special needs child, though. My daughter has Down syndrome (she's not "afflicted" as the Us Weekly cover suggested). She, and my son, are two of the greatest gifts I've ever received. Yes, Palin's son has Down syndrome. However, only Obama has concrete support of Americans with disabilities as part of his platform.
From Obama's site:
"Obamas comprehensive agenda to empower individuals with disabilities fits in with the campaign's overarching message of equalizing opportunities for all Americans.
In addition to reclaiming America's global leadership on this issue by becoming a signatory to -- and having the Senate ratify -- the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the plan has four parts, designed to provide lifelong supports and resources to Americans with disabilities. They are as follows:
First, provide Americans with disabilities with the educational opportunities they need to succeed.
Second, end discrimination and promote equal opportunity.
Third, increase the employment rate of workers with disabilities.
And fourth, support independent, community-based living for Americans with disabilities."
McCain has no position on supporting Americans with disabilities. Even though Palin pledged to support our families, McCain and Palin currently do not have anything detailing how they plan to provide that support.
And, this is a point that I'd be happy to be proven wrong on. Either way it would mean support for my amazing daughter, Palin's beautiful son, and all of the other valuable people out there like them.
Proud Mama to children with and without Down syndrome. Please think before you use the "r" word -Thanks!
Funny to see McCains name on hcw! I keep seeing the thread for Palin & the one for Obama and wondered who was running for president on the Republican ticket?? Not really interested in discussing them, though, just thought it was funny to see this after I was just thinking about that this afternoon.
OBAMA ALL THE WAY!!
I could write a book about why...but I will start with the basics....
I am compassionate. Everyone in America (the land of oppurtunity) deserves a chance. As it is now, less and less people are getting.
THe Bush Administration..need I say more??? LOL. JOhn McCain is almost a mirror image regarding policy and Sarah Palin is even more....
I believe in healthcare. I was torn in the primaries between him and Hillary, and went with him because his plan is more moderate. Mandatory for kids, optional and available for adults. We pay for healthcare through ER bills as it is. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...
Iraq....it was a mistake. It had nothing to do with 9/11. We can't be there forever, digging our country into a massive debt, while Iraq's government is rolling in oil $$. We need to be focusing on Afganistan...
John McCain is trigger happy. We need to have diplomatic relations.
The economy has been flushed down the toilet.
I love Clinton economics....they worked so well!
I have been an Obama supporter for a long time. Even if I wasn't, I am so disgusted by the kind of campaign McCain has run. He allows his VP to consistently lie about her record, he has run ads that are clearly false, and one in particular that is perverted.
He says he wants to unify the country, but allowed the entire RNC to divide rather than inspire. Just yesterday on the VIEW, he blamed his campaigns negativety on Barack Obama. He said he should have done the town hall meetings this past summer. You thrown away integrity over that???
I am ready for a change. Plain and simple. I have never been an "Obamahead" as someone has put it. I don;t think he is the second coming of christ. (although I think sarah palin can fall into the same steryotypes) I am inspired by him. I do feel that he is what we need. He represents the struggle that many americans face, and the power to overcome it.

Obama is a socialist and McCain is a fascist, neither are any good. One thing is certain, the American people will be the biggest losers this election.
I am a Christian and I don't believe in voting as I see it being a worldly activity. If I did vote, it would be for Ron Paul.
O yeah, and speaking of experience? LINCOLN???...yet the Republican Party worships him....

I thought for the first time in my life that I would cross party lines and vote for Obama when he first announced.
I thought that he was a young, brilliant orater and I was tired of bush.
I thought the man was brilliant.
And then he went after the support of Al Sharpton.
[For those of you that do not know what old Al has done,
google Tawana Brawley or the crown heights affair]
Sharpton had a huge fund raiser for Obama in March.
Elton John headlined.
There were photos taken and Als organization said Obama was the best.
That was the end of Obama for me.
They have widely publicized Obamas pastor as a racist.
No one mentions the Sharpton connection.:hectic1:
In fact, his campaign denies it and it had been erased from google.
The campaign said that he and Sharpton have nothing to do with each other.
The scariest thing I can think of is to have Al with a pal in the white house.:nah1:
I do not like Mccain wither, but I love Palin.
Maybe thats because we share a lot of the same values.:shrug7:
I am scared of most democratic politicians because I have this archaic view that we ought to keep as much of what we earn as possible and not donate what I worked for to someones else's pockets.
And the thing that most people overlook is that although we do have a complete idiot as president,
we now have a Democratic congress and nothing has changed for the better although they ran and won on that platform.
I think that a perfect ticket would be Biden and Palin and get rid of the other 2.![]()
We know almost nothing about a governer of less than 2 years in one of these least populated states...and you heart her????
That may be true,
But she is not the one at the head of the ticket.
and yet, she is the one who is invariably compared to Obama.
