There was no winning, LOL. | Our school (at least the elementary grades) has a standard list for each grade, rather than each teacher's classroom, and it goes home with the final report card for the year. We have it all summer.

if you are lost.. ask for your school board budget..
the average superintendant makes $74,000
the average principle makes $73,000
the average teacher makes $51,000
not bad for a 180 day school year.............................
maybe they should be the ones buying the pencils and coffee filters

Superintendants don't exactly get all summer off. In fact, they basically work all year. Not to mention, it is a VERY high stress job.
I wouldn;t want to be taking the phone calls from angry parents all day. Or sweating whether we meet the (failure) NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT.
My DH makes close to what a principal makes. While he works long hours, there isan't nearly the stress.
My mother makes MORE than a superintendant, and she gets 4 weeks paid vacation a year, plus personal and sick days. She is pretty stressed, but probably not still what a leader of an entire school system is.
I would hope that what someones salary is shouldn't be used to judge. Thats just mean and not fair....

| Re: Am I the only one who is ticked about the "school supply" lists? Pfffffft. the superintendant here makes closer to $250,000. I think it might even be more than $300,000 by now. the figure I saw was several years ago.

I think using an average totally skews people's perceptions. Beginning teachers make less and teachers who have been on the job longer make more. By the way, I have read that most teacher's quit within the first three years because they can't handle the stress. Also, teachers in my state are required to have additional training that they must take on their own time...my husband, for instance, takes several classes in the summer to satisfy this requirement. You need to understand that teachers have gone to college for 4+ years in order to gain the knowledge to teach. If they would have chosen a different career path, they may be making much, much more. Teacher's salaries vary by each state and each school district. You can see the beginning teacher's salary and average teacher's salary by state if you go to this website: NEA: Student Program - State Info: Alabama thru Kansas |
