How old are you REALLY?

Man! I'm feeling like the crazy old lady here! I just turned 41........ sounds ANCIENT! But, I've earned every year of that. Having DS is turning back the clock for me. We get to do all the "cool" kid stuff and I'm playing harder now than I did when I actually was a kid. I have to say that I am so proud of all the younger people on this site. I'm surprised at all the 20ish people on here. When I was 20 I was too busy thinkin' I was grown and blowing money hand over fist. Took me until 30ish to figure out that it wasn't fun anymore since I was having to work for that money. Now I guess I'm really more frugal than is necessary, but I really enjoy the challenge. It's more of a hobby, almost a sport. LOL. But I choose to live a much more simple life than I did before - I don't want to owe anyone anything, so I will drive my car until I absolutely have to buy another one; live in this little house until we have to move for whatever reason; and dare I say it! I don't have to have expensive clothes, shoes, cars, etc anymore. OMGosh, I really do sound like a crazy old lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's okay, cuz I'm loving life! Great poll, OP.

I know what you mean. I always try to bite my tongue and be respectful to my elders but I was in Shoprite a couple weeks ago and couldn't take anymore. I had an elderly couple get in line behind me and the husband says, (nice and loud), "go to another line, she's using coupons." The wife stayed put and he grumbled some more. I turned around and looked him dead in the eye and told him, "sorry to hold you up but I'm on a fixed income and I have to use coupons to help make ends meet". He looked shocked and told me that I wouldn't know what a fixed income was. I politely explained to him that of course I would seeing as how my husband didn't get a pay raise whenever my taxes went up, or when gas went up, or when the cost of a gallon of milk went up. He gets 1 raise a year and his paycheck is the same every 2 weeks. So yes, I am on a fixed income. He just stared at me. I turned back to the cashier to pay and heard his wife scolding him that he really needed to learn to shut his mouth!!

By the way... I'm 36 and have been a proud coupon user since I got married at 21.

50ish here...but my 29 year old son calls me every week to tell me how much he saves with coupons!!

I'm 26ish. That sure is nice of you to feed all of those cats - let that make you feel better when someone runs off at the mouth about what they know nothing about :)

I'm 31, and I would say I'm very good at saving money! I would say there are plenty of young people using coupons, we have kids to feed! And because the economy is the way it is we look to coupons to make our $$ work! I'm not sure I could afford to feed two children the way they eat any other way! actually I could but they wouldn't be eating as well as they do now. :)

OK....So now I want to know.....About how old was this "OLDER" lady. I am 54 going on 20 myself. I "met" a HCW member on-line who is only 19. I was dazzled at this young persons savy about saving. I only wish I had had such savy at that age. I would be ready for retirement by now! And if my grown kids had that kind of savy, I wouldn't have to keep bailing them out of financial trouble all the time! They are good "kids" but just not as thrifty as I raised them to be.
