So, I head back in the next day to pick it up and use my coupon....and when they tried to scan it the machine refused it. After a couple of phone calls and another 20 minute wait...they told me it wouldn't work. I went ahead and paid for the script (had to have it!) and left...fuming! I called their customer service and explained it all...they looked into it...and called me back. Turns out, giving someone a gift card (or other such incentive) for transfering a prescription is ILLEGAL in my state. I told them that it was fine if it didn't work, but that I was out the time, gas, etc for the whole deal AND that the script cost me more at their store than where I had been filling it previously! In the end, they refunded me the cost of the script.
In the fine print, it does say "except where prohibited by law"....so if you are going to use one of these in a trade...be sure that it isn't illegal in your state or in the state of the person you are trading with!
Just thought that might be worth sharing to save somebody else a huge headache... | |

Well, then again, I don't know.Does walgreens do the 4.00 generic thing? or are they still way behind cvs at doing things? |

| | Re: Walgreen's: $25 Walgreens Gift Card with any transferred prescription I am in Arkansas....I did notice that a $10 Target transfer coupon was in our local Target ad this past Sunday and that it specifically says that its is not valid in Arkansas....so that was a move in the right direction by these pharmacies! I mean, seriously, who knows all the prescription drug laws off the top of their head??? I was really disappointed that the pharmacists (2 of them!) did not know it would be illegal... |

Just thought that might be worth sharing to save somebody else a huge headache... | well I went this morning and bought something hoping for catalina and nothing. She did however tell me to check back later today because most people don't take them and she would save me one.I still don't know if it's gonna be worth it because I have lost a lot of trust in walgreens lately the way some of them try to do things.I'm usually pretty positive about things, but I almost want to say they will only try to give me a gift card for the price of the script.
maybe not but...different situation,but same headache? |

| | Re: Walgreen's: $25 Walgreens Gift Card with any transferred prescription Sent a coworker to Walgreens she got a card no problem (we are in Michigan) I go "A big problem" I know it's me...I have made the coupon gods angry...I didn't "actually" have a coupon and neither did she...I coached her in just asking for one and they did it...I "just" asked for one and the "little" girl was so expressedly rude...I called and emailed corporate...all happended yesterday
Corporate called me back today...I simply requested that they train their staff in customer service...and noted CVS didn't have a problem...
The district manager has called my 3 times unforturnately I have been in meetings and I don't talk to anyone after 6 (43yr mom/2yr daughter)
So they are listening...
