Default CVS called me "why did you transfer your Rx?"

Just got a call from CVS, the woman wanted to know why I had transferred a prescription that I'd originally filled at CVS to Ralphs (local grocery chain) at the end of last week. She then said "you know, we will give you a $25 GC when you transfer them here."

Quite honestly, I transferred the Rx from CVS to the grocery store because I thought if I refilled it at CVS, I couldn't use a Q since I had already originally filled the Rx at CVS.

Wow--CVS really wants my business! I got the feeling they would have given me a GC even if I just refilled my prescription with them, but I didn't know that in advance.

I didn't get a phone call, but I did get a letter in the mail, which included a $15 coupon when I transfer the Rx back to them! My hubby has been on the same blood pressure med for 6 years, and they know he's gonna keep getting it filled every month. They said they didn't want to lose my business!! OK! I had transferred it to Kroger to get a $20 GC. I transferred it back to CVS this month, to get the $15 they just offered! I love it!!

I love when CVS does this! I have 2 left for WAG and 2 Left for CVS and I flop between those 2 and target to get the most money. One time I ended up with $50 in GC because I took a WAG into cvs and they also gave me one of there GC for coming back. :)

I'm so jealous of all these transferable prescriptions! DD & DH are both on Adderall, which the doctor won't write for refills because it's a controlled substance... he gives each of them two separate prescriptions written out for two separate months. I don't know if that's the law, or if it's his preference or what, but it would be nice to be able to play the transfer script game.

I too wish I could play the transfer game :( We are required to get our scripts filled through dh's work since they have their own pharmacy on site. oh well, it's cheaper that way anyways. My meds are free and dh's are $3 for 3 months.

I had Rite-aid call once to ask why I had transferred my prescription. I simply told them that Safeway had offered me a GC to transfer. The lady on the phone then asked if I would transfer it back if they would send me a $20 GC to do it with. Sure!

My son is on adderall also. It is the law that it has to be hand written RX every month as it is a controlled substance. I am glad that mine has to be a new script as in my state you can only transfer 1 time per RX. So it they wrote it for 3 months I could only transfer it 1 time. Now I can use it on a new RX coupon every month.
I have no CVS or Rite aid or Albertsons in my area so I do not get the big gift cards for Rxs.
I am happy to just get my co pay back.

Can I get a giftcard at CVS when I go to get refills? I assume you can only get the $25 giftcard when you TRANSFER only. Anyone tried?

I don't know if this works or not, but it could be worth a try:

Bring your OLD prescription bottle (the empty one that you filled at pharmacy A) with you when you present the new prescription to pharmacy B. This is totally a YMMV thing, but it -might- be enough to satisfy the person who rings up your prescription at the pharmacy counter.

HTH!

From what I have seen locally, the coupons offered are for a NEW or TRANSFERED prescription. If you get a script hand written every month - I would consider that new, but, ymmv.

Rite Aid has a $20.00 coupon out this week, but the way I read it ,(and now I will have to re-read it) it can only be done one time per family. Hubby is on 9 different meds a month with another one for his ticker coming next week. I was hoping to be able to do all of them.
