    HELP Fexofenadine/Allegra? - Current transfers?

Our insurance company has just decided it will no longer cover my or my daughter's fexofenadine (Allegra) prescription. We both use it 365 days a year for asthma/allergies. We can't use another type of med because they don't work.

I know I can buy it OTC but that is like $70/mo even with coupons which is more than I can afford for what used to cost me less than $10.

Are there any current deals / prescription transfer for GCs out now that I could use to get this?

What dosage does your daughter take? My daughter takes 30mg 2x per day. Are you semi-near a cvs? If so, you can join the CVS prescription plan. It costs $15/year. I can get a 90 day supply of my daughter's allegra for $23.98. This plan only covers the 30mg dosage though.

Thanks for sharing this information. I wonder if the prescription plan for Walgreens has a similar price.

Thanks! We have a CVS about half an hour away. That's still quite a bit of money for two people taking it every day :( Really hoping to find a gift card deal out for it.

Who is your insurance?? They won't cover the generic?? I need to take Allegra every day as well. I haven't figured out how to be able to use my flex spending account for something that is prescribed but sold over the counter. I had to call about five different places, but finally found someone that has fexofenadine (Rite Aid). I think I paid $5 for a month supply of it. It is so hard to find a pharmacy that carries it since Allegra turned OTC.

We Have VHAP & no they won't cover anything that is available otc :( I absolutely hate it. It's not like I can stop taking it if I want to. We don't have flex spending accounts either so this is really just a huge money drain right now. I don't know of a solution yet but I am hoping! :(

I just checked. Yes, Walgreens prescription plan also covers the 30mg dosage. At Walgreens it is $12 for 90 days. I looked at the Walgreens plan and their plan requires you to either have no prescription coverage or very bad prescription coverage to be able to use it. CVS has no such requirement. I used to have all my prescriptions at CVS but we have moved to the land of no CVS but currently I plan on driving about 30 minutes or more to the closest CVS so that I can keep this one prescription there.

Have you talked with your doctor about this? I know sometimes there is nothing they can do about it but sometimes there is. When my daughter was first put on allegra she was 4. So, they put her on the liquid version which did not have a generic and it was $45/month! I about choked. I talked with her allergy doctor and he said that we could put her on the pill version with the same dosage and just crush the pill up. The pill version was $10/month! If I had not talked with him about I would have never known that. My daughter is also on singulair and that is $35/month and then her and I are both on allergy shots. So, I definitely feel your pain in that department. But maybe your doctor will have some great ideas!

hi, i am a cvs lead tech and the manufacturer of the rx fexofenadine is no longer being made. you will have to check every pharmacy to see if they have any stock left. also, to the fsa question. i have been taking zyrtec for years and now its otc. i had my dr still write me a prescription for the otc and even though its not covered on my insurance it is filled in the pharmacy as a prescription. its just not run through on my insurance. that way i can use my fsa card to pay for the rx! hope that helps. also check with cvs for the $5 off coupons that we have in the pharmacy. we have been using them for everyone. i think they expire the end of the month. hopefully your cvs will be as kind as we are!

These pharmacy companies are in collusion to bleed me dry for needing this stuff for my allergies. What about people who have no way of being able to afford Allegra? This whole situation irritates me.
