    Default Prescription Savings cards?

In the mail today came a flyer with some info on it and one of the things was a RX savings card. This is offered through Missouri Drug Card (can use google to see their website...not sure i can post that on here). How do these work? I've heard of them before but never used one. I have insurance and have a $10 (generic) and $30 (second-tier) copay. These savings plans say they will save you 75% off, but does that take into consideration copays or anything? I do try to use other coupons (like Advair is one of my Rxs, so I always have at least a $10 coupon from them), so I wonder how that works if I'd use my insurance, a Advair $10 check, and this savings plan.

Anyone have any info or experience?

Let's say you have a med with a cash price of $100. The discount card might turn it into $75. That's good, but your $30 brand copay is the better option. Your insurance is likely primary, so the discount card would have to be run through as a secondary, and most if not all are not meant to act as a secondary so you really cant use it. read the card's terms, though, as it is possible it could be done. Ask at your pharmacy if you are unsure - they can always call the discount card's help line for more info if needed.

As for the advair check, that probably acts as a coupon against your copay, so instead of paying $30 you would pay $20.

Thanks, Tracy! I need to spread the love before I can rep you again. That's the way I was thinking it would work, so wouldn't really be of benefit to me, I guess. I emailed the place earlier today asking details, so hopefully they'll confirm.

Yes, the $10 coupon comes off my copay, so I pay $20. I LOVE those!

    Thanks again!!!
