QUESTION RX Paperwork

Does anyone know what to do with the paperwork that comes with the prescription? You know the one with the name of the drug and the warnings. It also has your name, address, phone number, all sorts of personal info. It also has the price and insurance info. Is there any reason to keep this paperwork? What do you do with it? Should I toss or keep? TIA.

I never really thought about it like that. I do keep mine though when I first get a new prescription because I can go back and reread it in case I am having symptoms of a possible problem. I hope someone else has better answers for you.

Thanks for answering!! I never go back and read them because if I need any info I look them up on line. But I'm afraid for some reason I'll need them for insurance reasons!!! I never have!!! But the one that I get rid of will be the one I need!!! I have so much paperwork I would love to purge!!

Hello everyone: I am new i am effie most call me mae. grin. I am from lousianna. Home of hurricane. grin. God is good. !! And i mean it after three of them and four tornadoes. Two more two weeks during the day right before christmas. I can say God is good. I hope you all will help me. I am slow at times. I am hanidcap in apain alot. And well i miss alot. But on the medicine sitution. I save only if it is a new one after you get to know it. A good way to help your self, is to talk regularly with pharmisist about what you want on your regular perscription papers. Another good way of doing this, is to scan and burn information for insurance purposes off on a disc. I have been doing this and will do so most insurance companies, and others will accept this due to copies are better since all the weather going around. And also helps us not to waster so much paper and you and me being backed up with it, and wasting our poor trees, and more importantly not knowing what to do with all of it.. grin. I hope this helps in some small way. And I have a few other ideals here and there. I also know sites with help on medical are eye, and other things to help those who need help. It is like my giving when i physically cannot help so many in the world. I love your place. I hope so much you can teach me how to save and be frugal. I get confused. I have been reading on the beginner pages. But from time to time if it is okay to ask you questions, and learn also how to help with bargins to help everyone also. And do it right so i do not messup the board, i would really love the input.. We have it so hard, i must learn fast.. They have stuck even more charges on us down here in our state after so much devastation. No help from insurance our fema. But God always opens a door, and a breeze threw a window. I felt that breeze when i came here. grin. I just love all the smiles and help and good will here. thanks alot i hope i can help in the future. effie mae Alexandria, lousianna

Thank you Effie Mae. I never thought to scan them and put them on a disc. What a great idea. I hate to waste paper too! All the leters that come home from school I rip up and use for all my lists. I need to write everything down. When I started couponing I read everything I could here. I asked questions and everyone was so nice. They all want to help, especially someone who is new. Don't be worried you won't mess up the boards. Ask questions, even people who have been doing this for a long time ask questions. Take it slow, one store at a time and you will get the hang of it. Maybe find a friend to do it with so you can look for deals and coupons together. You'll be a pro before you know it!!! Good luck Effie and thank you for giving me the great tip!!!!

I usually throw mine in the CVS garbage can as I walk out of the store. Now that I know it has personal stuff on it, I will throw it away at home now.

We keep track our our prescription spending for our taxes. Usually from CVS it has the original reciept attached which I save in folder in the file cabinet for a year. Also sometimes you need certain numbers off the reciept if you are going to get reinbursed from insurance for the medicine. If it's just in the info for the meds I read through it making sure there is nothing I need to know and just shred it since it may have personal info on it.
