You know just to put my 2 cents in, as far as pharmacy bouncing for giftcards, I really do not think its a "health gamble". Every pharmacy I have ever been to always asks for a list of current medications, filled there or not. As long as your give them an accurate up to date list, and make sure to update when there is a change, I just dont see how its a gamble with your health.
My best friend of 15 years is a Pharmacy techinician, has been for several years, she'll tell you Doctors can diagnose theri a$$es off, but as far as what med to treat it with a pharmacist knows more LMAO
If you think about it, an MD and a pharmacist go to school for the same length of time. Only a pharmacist spends med school stufying medications, their useage and effects and such, while MD's just have a portion of their schooling dealing with it.

Personally I know my father could not afford his medication therefore cut back on it, I think bouncing his script for advair for him in an effort to get him to take it as prescribed was a bit better for his health IMHO

SO I say bounce away! Especially if its a long time medication , refill type of thing, really I just dont see teh danger in taking advantage of good deals when you see them. Heck if doctors offices were as competetive as pharmacies, maybe youd manage to get better care at an affordable price. I say the pediatrician ought to have friggen gift cards too, but of course it's not like the kids can wait until there's a RR deal going on, and I can't really stockpile that one. But give me time I may yet figure that one out If anyone manages to before I do please PM me I'd Looove to hear from you

But you know Im the mother who told her oldest daughter is she quit sucking her thumb and grinding her teeth at night, thus avoiding orthodontics, or atleast cutting back on the severity of orthodontics needed I'd consider giveing her a percentage of my savings
I also told her if I ever caught her smoking, I'd just simply make her get a job and pay for it, nuttin says quit smoking better than working all week after school and realizing you still need another 15 bucks to pay for your habit , and you got no money to go out with

Im a problem solver

If I got $1 for every min. I had to wait at the pediatrician for dd apt, I would be rich. One time we were there 2 hr. just for shots! This is only 1 of the issues I have with the place! I am about to switch pediatricians. The last thing that ticked me was a huge ad/article for birth control poster on the wall at the pediatricians office. I dont really think that is appropriate for 6-10 yr. olds to be reading. I guess they are advertising to the moms?!?!? Well, I did get a lot of $1 off Lysol q's in the office. Maybe I will stop in one day just for the coupons on the wall!!!

I bounce away. Med are long term, like ya said and that is when it helps most. I used to pay between $100-$200 in copays per mo. but now since I've been on allergy shots for 5 years, it has gone down and now I recoop most of my co-pay money with the gift cards.

On another note, my aunt who is super frugal, lived on the farm, makes everything homemade, has lived a good life by not accumulating too much debt, makes lots of good $ decisions in her life, etc...she recently discovered Mucinex and loves it and I can not convince her to read the label on the back and get the same stuff at Dollar Tree for $1. She says there is no generic or maybe just "they dont have it"...the pharmacist at the drug store told her. I said it has been in generic form as an Rx for years because I used to get it. Her eyes are not good enough to read the fine print on the back of the box. So sad!!! She is in another state so I just let it go. I gotta teach my dd how to shop so she can help me when I am old!!!

My Rx copays used to be like 10-20% of my income at one point before I had allergy shots and that is when I figured out the Rx coupons. I read ALL the literature in the box plus more on the net so I know exactly what I am putting in my body. Also there are the really dangerous allergy and asthma meds are OTC! LOL!! :) Point is...do this if you are very knowledgable about your Rx's...if not, don't do the Rx bouncing, especially if you have multiple doctors giving you Rx's. Some could mix in ways you don't want.

I agree with you. If you know what you're doing then it should be fine.

As a technician I deal with many folks who don't even know what they are taking so giving us a list of their meds for interactions is out of the question.

As far as relying on the doctor to keep you safe, I wouldn't recommend it.

I also agree...I think if you are responsible with your medications, there shouldn't be a health issue when you bounce around your meds. but, I also follow the rules on the prescription coupons, which prevent too much bouncing around. The stores that give gift cards here are CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens (sometimes.) But all of them have restrictions,...some say that you cannot have redeemed a coupon in the last 6 months...and some say that you cannot get the gift card if you have filled that script at any of there stores. So, if you are on a routine drug, that right there prevents you from bouncing it to that store anymore than once. Just watch the wording on coupons...I realize that most of the pharmacies don't keep track of how many times you have redeemed a coupon. But, its not right to try to abuse the coupons.
