I love the fact that you painted them - WOW - we have great shelving in the garage and the basement, but no paint - I'm jealous...

Tip for those with small garages - consider putting loft storage - if you put a support bar on the wall and then sit shelving and use chain for the front part of the shelf - it's GREAT - you can park the front of your car under it - in my old neighborhood we did it and then about 6 other neighbors did too - we have it here as well - it saves A TON of floor space - just make sure you don't put stuff up there that you use regularly....fyi

Great job - they look awesome. I'm also impressed it cost about $100 for everything. DH is super handy and there were $10/$50 Lowes qs in the paper this weekend. Mmmm....

I showed DH just the last one. He said that they were bigger than our house!! LOL, so I guess that means he's not going to do anything! Oh well, can't blame a girl for trying.

DH and I built some shelves similar to these in our shed for storage, but they are overflowing. I tidy things, then DH stacks in front of and around. I tidy things, DH stacks...you get the picture! I actually want to extend the shelves we have now...we probably have enough wood to do it. Hmmmm... Seeing this and having nice weather today is really lighting a fire under me!

Thanks for sharing the great project!

So do you want to give us the break down of the materials and a blueprint for how to build it? :-)

I'm guessing it's 8 ft tall and 16 ft wide? 1/2 inch ply wood for the shelves?

I'm curious about the paint. Did you prime? Did you use oil- or water-based?
