Congrats! I think you have put some wonderful time and effort into reworking your budget!

Do you think there is any way you DH could pick up some part-time work over the summer before the baby is born?

I am a chronic saver, and I am worried for you and DH because it doesn't seem that you have a dedicated retirement savings account. I would look at putting as much as you can (up to $5,000 each) into a Roth IRA, starting with an account in your name.

My only other budget comment would be to nix the cable all together. Good job on cutting it - but the internet has so many options above basic cable.

I'm actually going to be working from home so our income will not change now. I'm not sure I've mentioned this previously, but we've been putting most of my pay toward paying off the car- whatever is left over at the end of the month, usually $500-1000. DH taking on a p/t job during the summer isn't really a feasible option since he is also a coach and spends at least a few hours each day working even during the summers.

Also, DH has a 401-K account & we put in the max amount, but it's taken out before his take-home pay so I don't figure it into the budget.

LOL, I was just going to say that I SAH with three and our DH makes less than yours. It's tight but I wouldn't have it any other way! BUT since you'll be working from home, no problem! Congrats and good luck!

I SAH with two although I WAH as well (online). My husband makes much less than yours so I don't think you should have a problem. Can you eliminate some of your expenses like 2 cell phones & 2 cars? Cable?

oh i love the cutting of the cable. if only i could get dh to want to go with that. that would save us $50 a month (that is the basic plan).

my car took a dump today. so we have to work on getting a newish one. of course this will be an awakening for dh right now...as we have only one payment per month. this might add two. but all the extra money will go to paying it off.

remember look outside the box to find yourself a job. dh is wanting me to start training dogs. there really isnt anything locally. so hopefully i can pick up some extra work. this wasnt anything i thought of originally, but it was something my last job trained me in . so we are going to run with it!

Call cable company and tell them bill is too high! My husband called yesterday and got 50 buck knock off each month for the next yr saving 600 bucks a yr! Wow there is a lot I can do with 600 bucks. I also have a 700 channels and 2 dvr and only pay like 60 bucks a month now.

We called cable company and got 50 a month knocked off for the next yr!
We also switched car insurance and saving another 90 bucks a month on that!
Well 140 buck saving a month not bad for getting same service. We also refinace are house on a lower interest rate and save another 150 a month on that. So 300 a month saving for getting same stuff so 3600 bucks a yr saving.
