you may be on the 'store' site. it is just daveramsey(dot)com then click the tools (in the blue bar towards the top) then scroll down to budgeting, then click on dave's budgeting forms.

He knows we are on a budget and "doesn't understand" how we spend over but eill go to costco and spend 300 without even asking how much we have.

Budget only seems to apply to my household spending but then I'm accountable for all the extra?????

uhh i have the same problem with my dh, he says he is going to start tracking his money the 1st. I talked to him today and and while he thinks he spends probably 30$ a week, i quickly pointed out to him that is probably much closer to 80$, on gas, eating out at work, cigarettes, football pots he participates in and his weekly poker night at his friends. Ah! I wish i had that much blow money each week! I know that the gas/food isn't completely blow money, but i was trying to point out another way to save some money to him.

I am definitely going to try this envelope system! I need something to keep me accountable, and I want to start saving for christmas now so it is not a big deal come december.

    I made envelope systems:

    one for general use:

    groceries/household etc.
    gifts/bdays/holidays
    clothes/shoes/haircuts
    entertainment/eating out

    one for bigger items:
these will all be going into a savings account soon:

    emergency fund:
    house maintenance,
    car repairs
    vacation

we pay all monthly bills online, so i don't have an envelope system for that.

We just have one envelope the covers most non bill/non savings expenses. We fund it monthly and keep the envelope in a spot that we know about (but the kids don't) and take out cash as needed. Anyway for us it more about keeping the total at our agreed upon monthly amount not so much tracking it.

Food, clothes/shoes, entertainment, gifts, cleaning, haircuts, oil changes/gas, lightbulbs, postage, books. It doesn't include any home maintaince stuff over about $20 or any real car repair or car expenses.
Always on the lookout for Organic Valley milk coupons.
