Sorry I cant be any help but will take a pic when you have all that stuff crammed in there. I don't know of an SUV that you are gonna get all of that stuff into and be ab;e to drive it![]()
Hi, I'm not great w/ fiances. So would appreciate any advice.
First, I'm moving in 4 wks and
I'm getting some money for the move and used car.(around 4,000)
I was planning on renting an SUV, but its not going to be able to take most of my stuff. I'll have to ship some books/ Vcrs. That will cost 100 or more.
But I'm going to lose a lot of my stuff . I'm planning on getting rid of most of the furniture, but I like the rest of my stuff (dishes, bedding, plastic storage containers, (the stand up kind w/ 3 drawers, i really like those, lol and small stockpile.
I "COULD" buy an used truck, for about 3, 000... in CA.. then
trade it in in North Carolina, for some kind of Toyota/ Honda.
Which is wiser, renting the Suv, bc that way, I save 3,000 miles on the truck. Plus, thats a lot of wear on a very very loaded down truck.
Or, do I buy the truck, as an investment?
Yet, will have to sell, once I get to Nc and buy a used car, that needs to last 7-10 yrs.. seriously~
This is what HAS to go into the SUV, 27 inch tv, a small wagon, an electric wheelchair, grandmothers cedar chest, 2 large cat crates.
My craft items, bedding, fabrics, fans.. oh clothes, stockpile (mostly toiletrys and noo am not selling!) ETC.. LOL
(my friend who is helping me pack and load, just shakes her head, i have NO depth perception or obviously reality, lol
sigh I know, I know..
So, for you smart financial people, which is the best value?
Suv or buy a used truck?
Thank you soo much!!
Blessings and Joy
Whispered~

I think all will fit in an suv, iwth creative packing, if it is just you moving...., but how much is the SUV going to cost???? also do you HAVE to sell your current car? if not, why not rent a small uhaul truck you can drive yourself, they can hook up your car, and you can KEEP your things!
Amy S ...sometimes I can spell funny. It has to do with my disability from my service in the US Marines...
I vote for neither. Rent a van or truck (SUVs don't always hold as much as you think) if you can't handle driving a UHaul type truck. I can't tell you how many trips the wife made with our Escape while I was at work to move our stuff back and forth.
I am also against making any long trips with your personal vehicle if you can afford to rent a car instead. Besides if there is an issue with the rental they will most likely just replace it, if its your own car you've got to find a reliable, reasonable garage and wait for it to be fixed.
ahh, forgot to add some things,
I do not own a car right now.. very excited to finally getting one!
The SUV, found a fantastic deal at AVIS for 455 a wk.
(normally, at all the other car places over 1,000 a wk.)
Still looking for a rental van or truck, very very hard to find and posting in craigs, to deliver someones truck.. no luck yet there either.
U hauls, costs 1500 dollars, my stuff isn't worth that, i'll be honest.. its not.
Plus, I'm going to have to find someone or have a friend, do most of my driving..( I have RA~ rhematoid arthritis, causes severe fatigue, pain, etc) so the front seats will both be filled w/ people.
Ohh i'm pretty creative at packing, lol. There will not be an inch to spare, if I pack the SUV
Keep the ideas flowing~ thanks~![]()
