Just wanted to throw this out there for those who might not be aware:

You are entitled to one free credit report from each of the three reporting agencies each year. Provided by the government and available at www.annualcreditreport.com. The report is free, though you would have to pay to see your actual score. It is a good idea to check your credit report to make sure there aren't any mistakes that would affect your credit.

I think it's frustrating to have to pay to see your own score!

My answer is..I don't have a clue, but know it's good..

Frustrating is a word....

It's a fantastic racket - keep our data, often getting some of it wrong, re-selling it to thousands AND selling it to us.

No idea what my FICO score is either. I know my credit scores are high.

Great post from soapstone - I'll just add that it's good to rotate the companies and get one every 4 months.

Ew. Mine is bad. My parents put me on theirs when I was 16 so I could get good credit.. so when I was 18 it was 760! Meaning.. my first credit card was an $8k limit which led me into debt. *shakes head* my poor parents trying to give me a head start on life and of course my 18 year old self ruins it.

I'm not sure what mine is, but I am working towards living like no one else, and don't plan on using credit cards and already own a house, so, it's really not important to me.

I could write an encyclopedia on this subject. I think it is incredibly stupid that we have to pay to see our credit scores. I have written Senator Dick Durbin this week about this very thing. It is also insane that credit scores are secretive and not transparent - that we have to guess how a certain thing will either impact our score or improve it. That is total bologna. Credit scores should be free, and they should be broken down clearly into plus and minus columns. It should be easy to see what is impacting the score negatively and what could improve it and how soon that will happen. For those who don't know, much of this work is sent to India. If you think you can be immune -- forget it. Some employers even check your credit scores. When you apply for life insurance, things you don't really think about. The American public should demand that scores are free, that access to scores is easy, that correcting scores means that when you dial a phone number a human being who speaks English clearly and can actually affect your score is on the phone. Also, please ask your congressperson to make the scores easy to see what is affecting your negatively and how many points each item is worth toward your goal of 800. This issue is very, very important, especially in the days of foreclosures and lay offs.

Credit scores affect everything from car insurance rates to job offers. It's more important than you may think.

I've no clue what mine is. I'm kinda scared to look. But my plan for this year is to get things taken care of. That's just on hold now with my husband losing his job like all the other people.

Hmmm. I have not been able to bring myself to pay to see what it is. However, I have no reason to believe that it would be low.
