It is only when I lived here in the US did I realize that CCs are not just for spending @ whim. I have learned that I need it to rent a car, get the best discount rates for my insurance, get the lowest interest rates when I'm taking out a loan @ the bank, etc. I couldn't wrap my brains around it @ first on why I can't just stick to cash payments and instead pay via CCs to 'build' a credit history just to prove my 'credit' worthiness. It is something I have learned to accept ~ no credit history, no to loans/discounts.

Therefore, those who have high FICO scores and are liquid can take advantage of their scores to get higher discount rates. The insurance agent explained to me that customers with high FICO scores tend to take good care of their homes and their vehicles so they reward them with great rates.
