HOT Problems with Homeland... Anyone else?

I am so mad! I went to Homeland this morning to pick up a few things after planning this trip out to the exact penny. I needed to do 3 transactions, which is nothing unusual for me. I put all of my stuff on the counter and did the 1st transaction with no problem. The 2nd and 3rd transaction ended up being a no go.
The "new" coupon policy limits me to 1 transaction, per family, per day! So just in case you are not familiar with the new policy here it is link.

Sorry you seem to be having trouble. I know I ran into this same problem at my store (Ardmore), and called Christie at corp. Funny thing is, unless I am wrong (and please point it out if I am), it doesn't say you are unable to do more than one transaction, just it will not double after the first transaction. I know for me it seems like the store policy changes so quick here that you don't have time to get used to one before they change it to another. It's extremely frustrating.

I understand your frustration. I felt the same way as you when the Bethany Homeland stopped allowing back-to-back transactions over a year ago. I used to do 2 transactions at a time because I usually have 2 of each coupon: I have 2 newspaper subscriptions and ip's usually get 2 prints. Back when they first started it I asked them why and the manager told me they had a person who would come fill up baskets of full groceries and then proceed to do something like 10 transactions in a row. I'm guessing the person did this regularly and most likely cleared the shelves. At the time, the thing that aggravated me the most about the new rule wasn't so much the rule itself but that it seemed like one person had to go a ruin it for all the rest of us.

After hearing about so many other stores now starting to enforce one-per-day transactions, I wouldn't be surprised if it was due to others out there who have chosen not to "fly under the radar" by doing excessive numbers of transactions at a time.

My store has started to limit the transactions also. From talking to the cashiers, they have expressed that since a certain "coupon show" started airing they have seen a huge increase in the number of couponers wanting to do large amounts of transactions. I know the first week after the show premiered my store was completely wiped out of the "Kraft Homestyle Mac and cheese" which ended up being free after coupon. They started the week with two large bins full and a few individuals took it upon themselves to try and hoard these items. I agree with MCLindsay that a few people have ruined it for the rest of us.
I know it sucks but I also understand where the store is coming from too!!

My sis was telling me they updated the policy. Which the one transaction per day doesn't bother me because I go by homeland at least two or three times a week. But our homeland has taken one specific part to the extreme.

" The value of the coupon cannot exceed the current purchase price of the item. If the coupon's value is greater than the current purchase price, no cash back will be given and it will not be applied to the remaining balance of the transaction."

My sis said they are gonna start making us put our coupon with the product on the belt. And she said they are checking the sale price against the coupon to make sure you don't get any overage, not the original price, but the price that it is selling for at that time. So be prepared if you thought you got nasty looks before I have a feeling it's gonna get worse. My sis went the other day and the cashier was going through each coupon to check the amount and that she got that specific product. Which we abide by the rules and I'm ok with just getting it free, but at the cost of backing up the lines. Anyway there was a lady behind her in line that got REALLY nasty to my sis. It is just crazy. I mean we already put a ton of effort into collecting the coupons, matching these things up and trying to get the most out of what we have and now we are gonna be singled out even more. I mean I can ignore the looks at I tote my two screaming kids and my huge "truck" cart with my coupon binder precariously balanced in the front, but really. Now I'm going to have to pick out the item and match it with the coupon so someone else can see I got it and have them check each sale price to make sure I don't get even a penny back. I don't buy anything without a coupon so I can't even imagine how long that is gonna take. Plus on a normal day with a fast cashier scanning those coupons just as fast as they can, my kids are causing all kinds of commotion in the cart.
Ok sorry. Didn't mean to vent. And I try not to have to take my kids anyway, but sometimes it can't be avoided.
    Ok really I'm done now.
