Holy cow. I was complaining about $2.75 a gallon only last winter. Oil prices are currently about $2 OVER that amount. Whew.
We are thinking about getting a couple of those electric fireplaces for the days when its chilly but not bitter cold. My MIL has 1 of them in her back room. The last time we were there, in Feb, she had it on and it was like a sauna in there.

I heard from a customer of ours, that home heating oil is going to be close to $6 a gallon. The customer said that one of his friends called the oil company and they wanted him to lock in at $6 a gallon!! Oh my am I glad we changed. We only have oil back up!
I would suggest to all of the people that have oil if you can afford it, to change out your heating systems! DH and I own a HVAC company and with the rising cost of the oil, it is very smart to look into getting a new system. The way that I see it is, if you were paying close to $400 for a month or two last year for oil, you are going to be paying double that this year and you could buy a new system and finance it and have it paid for in a decent amount of time with the extra money you have left over from not paying oil prices! Def. would look into if I was any of you out there! We were going through 150 in about 1 1/2 months which costs us $450. Of course we got an awesome deal from one of our dealers on an HVAC system and converted from straight oil to a Heat Pump with oil back up. We haven't had it a full heating season yet, but I can tell you that our electric bills went down by $100 in the summer time and we keep our A/C on 70 steady all summer long.
