Default Replacing floor & countertops in kitchen..suggestions please!

DH & I decided to do a minor remodel of our kitchen.
We are replacing the floor and the countertops. Both were installed 4 years ago when the house was first built but the builder used really cheap materials. As a result our floor is full of stains that just wont come off and now it looks horrible.
We have picked the floor we want but the current countertops really won't match. Since they are laminate we decided to replace too.

    Question:

What are your thoughts and experiences on getting Corian for countertops? Nice? Stain resistant?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!

Do you know what you started? I just came here to party!

I have Corian countertops and I really like them. I think they are 8 years old (they were here when we bought the house).

I'm in the process of buying a house myself, and plan to do a kitchen "facelift" versus a complete remodel. I found a place called Granite Transformations. It's 1/3 of the price (Corian is NOT cheap I've looked into it) and they bascially fit this peice on top of your existing countertops. Also check Craigslist... I've seen someone advertising granite for $25 a square foot versus the typical $100+. If you're doing tile, you should be able to do it yourself, and that will save a bundle.
