Default ripping up carpet to seal cement floor

I'm thinking about ripping up my old bedroom carpet.

on one wall, the toilet leaked so there is a area of moldy smelling carpet, there are ugly stains that have been covered up by a bed forever, and urine stains from dogs all over....

I was thinking that I could just rip this carpet up and then clean it good wait a day or two and then stain and cement this and keep my floor like that.

    Will this work?

any help or advice would be appreciated.

I haven't done this personally, but I saw someone else do it on the DIY Network. Look it up on their website for tips & tricks. Good luck! You should take before & after pics!!
