Super easy to make curtains out of sheets. I bought the cheap flat sheets in color I needed. Cost at Walmart $3.50 twins size. WAY cheaper than fabric. You could also get them at gsale or thrift store.
There is actually a book that I have and the entire book is different curtains to make out of sheets with no sewing (can't remember name and it is currently loaned out). We did my friends entire house with sheets. each room a different way and diferent colors. It was cheap and so fast and easy.
The top already has a pocket for rod. At the most you may have to make a slit in each end to open it up. Just cut pieces to about 1/2in over size you need on edges and bottom. I used stitchwitchery ( I think what its called) You put it on fabric, fold over hem and iron. SOOOO super easy and fast.I have sewn edges before but this is so much quicker.
I did my daughters room in lime green and blue stripes. Just cut the sheet in large strips and did hems then alternated the colors. Turned out awesome. 1 window is huge bay prob 7 ft wide and other is 4 feet wide. Cost me approx 15 bucks for sheets and iron on stuff.

I was going to suggest this! I recently discovered the joys of using sheets as fabric. If you have a color scheme, it's fun IMO to dig through a thrift store to look for vintage or older sheets. You'll have one-of-a-kind curtains!

i spent $50 at dollar general for 3 sets of curtains and a shower curtain (got to return on that we didnt use) and got some metal hanging pieces at hobby lobby. between the curtains and the pictures and just moving some furniture around...it is like i have a whole new house.

DH and a friend of his put laminate flooring (looks like bamboo) in the finished part of our basement. you can get those laminate click floors to look like anything. It only took them one afternoon to do it. Changed the whole place.

DH likes to have a rug under his feet when he wakes up (we have hardwood in the rest of our house). So I made a rag rug out of old jeans of his. I found a place online where you can go and weave your own rag rug. There may be someplace like that near you where you do something like that...IDK if you're crafty....but I always thought log houses looked nice with rag rugs.

I would suggest using a 10% off coupon from the change of address packet at the PO, it's a lowes coupon but home depot takes it too (competitor q), for the flooring. I am all for the linoleum that looks like tile or stone and snaps together - tongue and groove style. I plan on using that in our downstairs hall and bathroom soon.

For decorating the walls, I found something you can make yourself called fabric panel wall art that looks pretty cool.
