    Default "Cat" House

Ha...we have been taking care of three stray kitties around our house: MungoJerry, RumpleTeazer and Rum Tum Tugger. For those of you who aren't familiar, I live in Minnesota...it gets cold up here. We feel so bad for them that we opened up our 2-season porch and let them come in to get out of the draft. About 3 weeks ago, my DH got a bright idea to build them a house that we could put in the back porch...heated with a heating pad, insulated, etc. After 3 weeks of a cyclone in my basement and about $150 - $250 dollars later...he finished his little "cat"house last night and put it out on our back porch. He created a schematic for it prior to building it...and then purchased all of the materials etc, including insulation. Ya gotta love him.

Thought I would share it with you....Bless his heart...he even put in a window for our lil tenants

That's pretty cool. How do the kitties like it? Do they like going in it when the other cats are inside? We have 3 cats ourselves. 2 come in and out and one is still a kitten so she does not go outside. However the dogs like to chase the 2 older cats so they get scared of coming inside even in the winter unless I physically pick them up and carry them inside or open a window and let them sneak inside where the dogs don't know they are coming inside.

It's weird but they don't even bother the kitten, infact they all snuggle with her hang out.

One that is more brave (and friendly) then the other two loves it...he is in it all the time! it is heated...and Dave is talking about installing a motion sensor camera. When he does something he doesn't understand moderation.

We still can't get close to the other two...I think they go in there but when we go to the back porch they scatter...

Did he use a program to draw that up? I could use that for some other applications. Pretty nifty! I think my cats would love a heated house, my dogs too! What kind of heated mat did you use? Just a heating pad or something found somewhere else? I think I have seen heat mats for barnyard animals.

Very cool! Your husband could probably sell that or kits or something. I may have to look into the heated mat for the dog house my DH is supposed to be putting together...

Good luck! I still have a hole in my bathroom wall that was supposed to be filled in....10 YEARS AGO...when we first moved into the house. If he doesn't like the project he isn't motivated to do it
