When I was a kid all our sheets were pilled; even back then it bothered me.

I love the way the cotton sateen feels on your face with the pillowcases.

DH grew up with kids novelty sheets (the kind that make me itch thinking about them! 90 thread count polyester that pill when you look cross eyed at them), and I grew up with percale sheets- 180 thread count- ugh. But, my parents didn't have a lot of money, so mom did what she had to do.

When I got a job in HS, I saved up for a set of high thread count sheets- thanks to TJMaxx, i was able to get a set pretty cheap. That was the beginning of the end for me.

When DH and I got married, we registered for Modal and Bamboo sheets. They are soft. The Modal sheets are like a high quality jersey, so soft, a little stretch, and the bamboo sheets we have are sateen. We have 5 sets of sheets. 2 Modal (light grey, baby blue), 2 Bamboo (eggplant purple and ruby red) and one set for the winter- they are polar fleece (light blue).

Modal is made from Birch, and bamboo are made from.. bamboo. The polar fleece sheet set is on our bed right now and it's freaking heavenly. We don't have to pile on as many blankets and the bed is snuggly.

I'm never going back to sheets with polyester in them again. With Bed Bath and Beyond coupons and one of their good sales, you can get a "good" set of sheets for $35.00.
