    Default Toy storage

I have a one year old and her toys are taking over the house! :hectic1: I'm looking for some budget storage ideas for both her bedroom and the living room. Any suggestions?

I always just used a laundry basket in the living room.. easy for them to get the toys out.. and super easy to throw them in for a quick pick up.. ;)

There is a dollhouse bookcase at Mikes in the unfinished wood section that is 29.99 and then of course you have a coupon. You then paint it and use scrapbook paper as wallpaper and it doubles as storage and a toy. I bought on of these when I was preg and eventually I will finsh it for my dd. I saw this on a blog and thought it was the cutest thing.

I have a large basket and the ottoman for the rocker is from Target (like 20 dollars) and I use that for storage in my bedroom.

Baskets!! I have three laundry baskets in DS's closet that are filled with toys. Every night before bedtime we walk through the house and pick up all the toys. He helps. He's too cute too because occasionally I 'miss' the basket (wink wink) and he says 'uh ooooooh' and picks the toy up and puts it in and then say 'all done'. He makes my heart giggle! I do it before bedtime so he knows it is time to wind down for the night.

We used bookshelves. Toys she can play with and get herself can be kept on the lowest shelves and things that need supervision, and books, can be kept higher. We had one whole wall lined with bookshelves and it was organized and easy to see all the toys at a glance. PLUS, even a little one can help pick up by putting their toys on the lowest shelves.

Am I the only one who uses huge cardboard boxes? I have one from my rocking chair I use, and another from the air conditioner. LOL. I just toss all her toys in them when we are done playing. I figure I'll get nicer toy box when she gets older.

Laundry baskets are a good idea!

I use Rubbermaid totes, we have 5 large ones and I only keep one tote out in the basement/family room. The other 4 totes I store under the stairs and I pull out a new tote once a week or so. There are some large toys that are kept out all the time like the train table and play kitchen and each kid is allowed a few of their special toys in their bedroom.

I pretty much have banned toys in the upstairs living room though, although they still sneak in all the time. LOL

Rubbermaid/sterilite containers. I stocked up awhile ago when CVS had them 75% off and they are pretty handy. We keep one downstairs in the living room and put all of his toys away at night, or when he is done playing with them.

I buy the stackable bucket type shelves (not sure what they're called) but I get them at Dollar General for $4/each. They don't take up a lot of space in the bedrooms. I also have a lot of the clear tier tier drawers that you can usually pick up on sale for around $11. Downstairs I just use a small tote type bucket with a few toys that can be left downstairs and I just frequently change them. My son likes to dress up, so I use the mesh hamper style baskets for his "dress up clothes".
