Wow, that's a lot of "extra" charges. Mine looks simple compared to that. I'm in Alaska, Mat-Su Valley. Mine says:
    1192 kwh
    Facility charge: $5.65
    First Step: $0.09592 = $114.34
    WPCRA $0.0545000 =$64.96
    Regulatory charge: $0.0004320 = 0.51
    Total: $185.46

Propane stove, heat with wood. Have two refrigerators, two freezers, tv, computer, washer/dryer, hot water heater, lighting, etc are all electric. We can easily go over $300 in the winter.

Wow! I think you might be in need of an energy audit... we only use an average of 700kwh per month and that is with an electric dryer. I cut back on alot of things the past 6 months like the kids have to unplug their gaming station after they use it, no longer using a bunn coffee maker ($35/month to have coffee instantly as opposed to waiting 5 mins.) ect. I also know that motion lights use ALOT of electricity.
Well we actually just qualified for a program to weatherize and to make our home more energy efficient. They blew in insulation, weatherstripped the doors, put in a gas tankless how water tank, and a new energy star furnace. Hopefully with the next bill we will see it.

I guess i better make it a goal to lower my watts used. This month watt usage was 2016. I guess I better make it a goal to lower my watts. I also don't really know how many watts i have actually used in 1 month though. They only read only every other month. So they could have estimated to low the last time. Some of those watts could have been actual usage from the month before. Should I read my own meters? Would that help me to save money in the long run, because I would be able to see how much energy I actually use a month and could start doing things to lower my energy costs and actually see that. Also it would be nice to not have such a high bill every other month because of their bad estimates.

Can you PM me the name of that program? It'd be a super help for my dad's place....

Here is my bill for September:

Customer charge $7.50 (for being a customer?)

Non-Fuel energy $49.00 (I'm not sure what this means, because I don't have gas supply, strictly electric, as it is not allowed in our condo)

Base Fuel Energy $25.50 (this is a charge we pay even if we use 0 Kilowatts every month)

Capacity Surcharge $-.06 (at least I have 6 cents credit)

Interim Rate Increase $5.99 (I suppose an increase every month?)

PBF Surcharge $1.10 (not sure what this is)

Energy cost adjustment $59.18 (I think this is for Kilowatts used)

IRP Cost recovery $1.07 (I don't know what I'm paying to recover)

    Total for Service $149.28
I calculated 10.66 cents per kilowatt. This is with only two loads of laundry in the dryer per week, (only heavy clothes like jeans or heavy items like towels, and the rest I hang on hangers in the shower to dry, and the light clothes like socks and underwear on a clothes rack in the little living area I have) and no A/C, no baking, using the stove only three or four times max per week, using those energy efficient light bulbs, turning on the water heater only once per day for one hour for the family (we are a family of 5, two adults and three children) and we live in a two bedroom <700 sq ft condo.

So, I think I'm really good at trying to not use any electricity at all except for the basics, and this is a really nice low bill for me, since even a year ago we were using less kilowatts a day and the bill was $200+ for the month.

This is really cheap for HI since I know other families with less members in the household with bills two or three times as much as mine. But they have AC, keep their lights on, use the dryer all the time, cook, and live in houses two or three times larger than my condo.

Oh yeah, I forgot, I used 555 Kilowatts for the 33 days for the cycle of this bill, for an average of 16.8 kilowatts per day.

I'm in MD and our summer bills averaged around $190. Last month our bill was $138, but we haven't turned the heat on yet. Our gas bill is separate from electric but it is on budget so we pay $30 a month. I have no idea what our bills will be this winter, we will set the heat at 68 and I am going to insulate the windows in all the rooms to aid in keeping the bill low.
