Thanks, King. Dh is threatening to build us a deck by himself and he has NO idea what he's doing.
As many of you probably know I work at Home Depot I work in the lumber /building materials sales. For anyone interested in either buiolding a new deck or remolding an old one I have but one recomendation. Instead of using redwood or any other kind of wood on your deck go with a composite deck.( most are made of plastic and wood fiber)
Some of the advantages of using a composite deck are that you wont have to stain or waterproof it EVER. These are a maintance free deck and because of that will save you alot of time and money in the long run.
Yes the cost of composite decks is higher than going with something like redwood but you will never have to buy stain or water sealer.
One of the decks that I recomend is Timber Tech. It is basically a tounge and groove deck and is extremely easy to put together. If you have any questions contact the contractors desk at your local Home Depot or check the website http://timbertech.com/index.aspx

Thanks. DH is wanting to make a bigger deck and I was wanting to look into this type of material. I hate that the nails keep popping out of our deck, not to mention we just sanded and stained it last year and it already looks horrible.
There is also a sweepstakes in that link you gave.
Thats great advice, now, for the important stuff  , is there a certain time of year or certain promos that we should wisely combine with a 10% coupon and a 0% financing offer to get the absolute best price?
Also, I hear that they are now making fencing out of these awesome materials, so they don't need restaining/painting like a wood fence and don't get brittle and crack easily like vinyl. Have you seen any of this fencing stuff in your store?

The only fencing material I have seen is a vinyl fence material it stands up pretty well here in WY with all the wind. The one thing I do suggest to people if they are planning to put up a vinyl fence is to put a pressure treated 4x4 inside the vinyl fence post to make it alot more sturdy.

Composite decking is really nice, but it is 2x or more the cost of wood. I just built a 14x20 deck and used cedar decking. I spent $2000 total... wood, screws, nails, stair stringers.. everything.
