    Default Decorating on a budget

    Hey!

Hope that some of you more creative types can help me.

We are tight on cash right now and rather then by a gift, we want to redecorate our oldest son's room for his B-day (he will be 11 in Dec.). He has the same decor that he had as a toddler - baseball - and he is not even athletic!

We have a friend who is going to give us some denim blue paint - which will match his current comforter set.

We want to do a rollercoaster theme - one idea that I have is to do a "past" and "future" wall where we have pictures of his favorite rollercoasters that he has riden and then another wall of the ones he wants to ride. I have downloaded some pics from the internet into photoshop and hope to print them as 8X10s and get some cheap black frames.

I have looked into some other cool ideas - but need to keep things as cheap as possible.

Any ideas would be much appreciated! Also if you have any ideas for cheap photo processing and picture frames that would be great too.

I live in a major city so lots of stores to choose from.

    Thanks in advance!

What about getting the frames from Micheals? Or Hobby Lobby? When they're on sale (about every other week) try to find a 40% off 1 item coupon & you are sure to get a good deal on them. I just went to Drug Warehouse & found 5 5x7 frames marked down to .49

    I love the rollercoaster theme.
I also love decorating, so I'm posting here so I'll remember to come back later after I've had time to think & hopefully give you some ideas! :)

Don't forget the dollar stores for frames too... you could put some "tracks" paint or something you stick on the wall and put the pictures so it looks like they are a rollercoaster...

Thanks so much for the ideas! I am definitely going to look at getting the frames for the lowest price. I like the idea of a track on the walls - I was going to look for some decal like stuff as I am a pathetic artist!

Try calling up a local community college or high school and asking in the art department if there might be someone who would do a mural for cheap. I know there are plenty of students who would be willing to work for beer, hba items, or other stuff you may have in a stockpile instead of cash if you provide the paint. Many craft stores have 50-60% off custom framing, a plain black frame may not be too expensive that way.
