"I don't come from money, I come from coupons!"
Our bills for this month were $109 for electricity and $46 for gas!
Another reminder to have your heating/cooling unit serviced 2X a year!!!!! My DH is a service tech and 90% of their calls during high use times (really cold or hot) have NOT had a service in the past 2 yrs.
As a matter of fact he has worked late every night and today, a Saturday been out since 8am this morning.
We keep the thermostat 70 at night and 74 during the day. I change the filter monthly to keep the allergies down and to help lower the stress on the unit. Now if I could only adjust the humidity outside!
Our electric & gas is included in our rent but we do try to conserve as much as possible.
Y'all have a great savings day!

Money doesn't make you happy. I now have $50 million but I was just as happy when I had $48 million.
What's this crazy 'ten' or 'twenty' rule? Is that only for window units and not for central air? Because I promise you it was over 110 degrees outside last summer in Phoenix and our house was about 76-78...
We have a one story house, I think that helps w/ the bill.

I'm hoping our bill will go down a little in the summer because we have electric heat, hot water, and stove. We haven't had to start using the AC yet, in fact, we have used the heat off and on at night as late as last week lol. We finally got some warm weather yesterday and today so it probably won't be long.
We had central AC in our old house and I never felt it getting cool enough so I would use fans with it. I think what would have helped too would have been insulating (or at least covering) the foil tube vents that were in the attic. It got super hot up there so I'm sure any cool air that made it out of the AC unit warmed some by the time it got into the living areas.
To help keep the bill down, I usually wash & dry laundry and run the dishwasher at 10PM or later. These emit heat and therefore in the winter when it's colder at night the heat helps warm, and in the Summer the house is not heated up. I saw a ad at the movies to wash at 10PM or later pulls less on the electrical grid, thus helping save electricity, and being more environmental friendly.
Also, being cheap, I have put up dark towels over the curtains to reduce the sun during the day, esp in the kitchen where the sun really shines through. If company shows up, just redecorate quickly........pull them down!!
