I always email, I don't call. I'm not a phone person at all! I usually just send a compliment - though when I contacted Stouffer's I did complain (amount of salt in their lasagna). I seem to mainly get coupons. I contacted a few more today & this time I actually asked for coupons after I complimented them. I figure it really doesn't hurt to ask, and like someone else in this thread mentioned, how do they know we'll use the coupons if we don't tell them?

Contacted BonAmi re: their starch (which we love), got two frees and 3 35 cent off. Also contacted Danimals re:crush cups breaking in bag and they said are sending q's

I just started doing this and so far the reaction has been great!

Companies I have emailed (with compliments on their products) and response:
Amy's- got email back, coupons and brochure arrived! (no more than 3 days after I sent the email! wow)
Ziploc- got email back, coupons arrived! (again, really quickly)
Uncle Ben's- got email response, no coupons mentioned
ReddiWhip- got email back, sending coupons
Carnation Instant Breakfast- got email back, sending coupons
Vitaminwater- got email back, no mention of coupons
Eggland's Best eggs- got email back, sending coupons
Dannon- got email back, sending coupons
Colgate- got email, no coupons mentioned

Dumb question: some of the companies listed on the first page of this thread don't seem to send anything anymore.

Hormel??? I complained about super salty ground pork, and they sent me a SASE to send the receipt to them. Still waiting on their reply.

Dole sent nothing.
Dannon sent a brochure for all their products.

Do we have a thread for "companies that say thanks, but no coupons"? Or "companies that totally blow you off"?

What's up with that?
A lot of it might have to do with the economy. I know when I first started emailing companies just late last year, I used the list of companies on the first page of this thread (or maybe it was another home mailer listing thread on this sub board). I received a lot of coupons, including frees and multiple high value coupons from companies.

This time around (started emailing in March), a number of companies that sent me coupons before said no, or would only send one coupon. A lot more companies started sending Do Not Double 9 coupons or coupons with Do Not Double written in all caps and another color ( can't use during doubles w/ scrutinizing cashiers taking 5 min to read 1 coupon!).

Also, I have emailed companies recently and received different coupons and amounts than my boyfriend has received. It might just come to whether or not the customer service person replying has extras of the free item coupons or higher value amounts. Who knows?

I'm surprised--I got Qs from Dole & Dannon--maybe it just depends on the CSR that gets your request. Did you ask for coupons? Were they all complaints? I simply asked if they had a mailing list & told them I liked their products. Use soomeone else's name/email, etc. & try again!
