***Note items in this FAQ are based off of my personal shopping experiance, information provided by my husband who worked there for 2 years, and the Home Depot Website. If you have any questions about shopping at Home Depot please ask your questions in thie thread and we will try to find out the answer for you****

***General***

Q. What is Home Depot's Website?

Q. Can I view the ad online?

Q. Does this store double or triple coupons and if so what are the details?
A. No The Home Depot is a hardware store and does not double or triple coupons.

Q. How does this store handle BOGO sales and coupons? Can I use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale?
A. You should be able to, although in my recollection Home Depot does not do too many BOGO sales. YMMY

Q: Does this store have catalina promotions?
A. No they do not have catalina machines.

Q. Do I need a store card to get in on the savings?
A. The Home Depot does not have a store card.

Q. What is the contact information should I need to complain or complement this store?

Q. What days do the sales run?
A. Sales run for the most part Sunday through Saturday

Q. Does this store price match?
A. Yes Home Depot will price match localy or online prices, they will even price match thier own online prices. The price match policy is dependant on the product being sold but they will not only price match but will also beat the other price (depending on product sold) Some items like wood where the price changes drasticaly depending on the market are less likely to be price matched.

Q. Does this store accept coupons for clearnace items?
A. Yes they do

Q. Does this store accept printable coupons?
A. Yes, but as with all printables YMMV

Q. Does this store give overage?
A. I am not sure at this time.

Q. If an item is out of stock will Home Depot issue a raincheck?
A. Yes they will, I am not sure at this time if Home Depot rain checks have expiration dates on them.

***Rebates***

Q. Where can I find rebate forms?
A. Rebate forms are available at your local store or on the Online Rebate Center

Q. Where can I check the status of a previously submitted rebate/redemption form?
A. There are two types of rebate/redemption offers. The first is a Gift Card offer from The Home Depot and the second is a rebate/redemption offer from the manufacturer. To check the status of a Gift Card offers from The Home Depot, call 1-866-805-7328 or visit www.fast-giftcard.com/giftcardstatus. To check the status of a rebate/redemption offer from a manufacturer, you will need to contact the manufacturer directly via the number listed on the rebate form. You can access forms for offers currently in effect by visiting the Rebate Center.


Q. lost my receipt needed for a rebate. How can I get another?
A. To get a copy of your original receipt, contact the store where you made the purchase


***Returns***

Q. What is the Home Depots Return Policy for items bought in stores?
A. According to thier website thier in-store return policy is as follows:

Returns with an original sales receipt within 90 days of purchase, subject to exceptions below
  • Any purchase made by credit card will be refunded to the original credit card

  • Any purchase made by a check that has not cleared the 10-day waiting period may be refunded as a Store Credit

Returns with an original sales receipt after 90 days of purchase

Returns without a sales receipt
  • Receipts for purchases made in the past 90 days by credit, debit or check may be able to be looked up for you
  • If we are unable to look up your receipt because you did not pay with one of the options listed above, or for any other reason, a Store Credit or credit to your Home Depot Commercial credit account may be issued based on the lowest selling price. The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason.
Exceptions
  • Some Special Order returns subject to a 15% restocking fee. Cancellations may be subject to 15% restocking fee. See the Special Services Desk for details
  • Gasoline Powered Equipment: Returns allowed within 30 days of purchase with an original receipt. No returns, including refunds, exchanges or credits, will be issued without an original receipt. After 30 days, item may be sent out for repair at the customer's expense, unless covered under warranty.
  • No returns on the following products: Custom made products, custom tinted paint department products, Gift Cards and Gift Certificates

Note: Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, and Store Credit cannot be exchanged or returned for cash, credit or check. The Home Depot reserves the right to request valid identification prior to accepting merchandise for a return. The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason. The Home Depot will only accept the return of merchandise purchased from a The Home Depot store. Purchases made at EXPO Design Center, Home Depot Supply, Home Depot Landscape Supply, The Floor Store or any other Home Depot Company may not be returned at The Home Depot, unless the item is stocked/sold in the returning store. Items purchased at a Canadian or Mexican Home Depot may not be returned in the U.S. Purchases made with a Customer Agreement must be returned to the same location where originally purchased. See Special Services Desk for details.

*Home Depot may issue a check for refunds over $1,000 (checks are mailed from Home Depot's Store Support Center in Atlanta, GA).
**Sales tax will not be refunded on purchases over 90 days in Massachusetts or Connecticut; or without a receipt in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Q. What is the Home Depots return policy for online or catalog purchases?
A. According to thier website the return policy is as follows:

Most items in original condition may be returned within 90 days of delivery for a full merchandise refund. Merchandise must be returned in unused, like-new condition.

Important note: Except in cases where the return is the result of an error by the shipper or the item arrives damaged or defective, original shipping charges are non-refundable and you are responsible for all return shipping costs.

Return Policy Basics
  • Items purchased on homedepot.com or through Home Depot Direct catalogs (except for major appliances) cannot be returned to our stores (including The Home Depot, EXPO Design Center, The Floor Store, HD Supply, Home Depot Landscape Supply or any other retail store location).
  • Merchandise in unused, like-new condition must be returned within 90 days of delivery, with the following exceptions, for which different terms apply:
    • Air Conditioners and Generators
    • Whole House Generators
    • Electronics
    • Furniture
    • Plants and Live Goods
    • Gourmet Foods
    • Major Appliances
    • Gift Cards
    • Items That Use Flammable Liquids or Gases
    • Mattresses, Pillows & Bed Linens

  • A refund can only be issued to the original credit card used for purchase.
  • All returns must include the following:
    1. Original Packing List with the Returned Items section completed
    2. Original packaging with any accompanying manuals and materials


Damaged Items and Shortage Claims
Please inspect all merchandise immediately upon receipt. Any damaged or missing items must be reported within 3 days of delivery by calling toll free 1-800-430-3376.

Return Policy Exceptions
  • Air Conditioners & Generators
    Air conditioners and generators must be returned within 30 days of delivery. Any product damage or defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery. Please also note the flammable liquid exceptions listed below.
  • Whole House Generators
    Generators designated as "Whole House Generators" are non-returnable and non-refundable. Any product damage or defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery.
  • Electronics
    Electronics, such as TVs, VCRs, DVDs and computers must be returned within 30 days of delivery. Any product damage or defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery.
  • Furniture
    Furniture must be returned within 30 days of delivery. Any product damage or defects must be reported within 3 days of delivery.
  • Plants & Live Goods
    Plants and live goods, including cut flowers and holiday trees, wreaths and garland, are non-refundable. Please call us at 1-800-430-3376 within 3 days of delivery to report damaged plants and/or live goods and we'll promptly ship a replacement.
  • Gourmet Foods
    Gourmet food items, including ones in gift baskets, are not refundable. Please call 1-800-430-3376 within 3 days of the delivery to report damages and we will promptly ship a replacement.
  • Major Appliances
    Any product damage or defect must be reported within 48 hours of delivery by calling 800-455-3869. After 48 hours, any product issues must be handled through your local Home Depot store Special Services desk. Be sure to bring a copy of your sales receipt with you.
  • Gift Cards
    Gift Cards cannot be exchanged or returned for cash, credit or check.
  • Items That Use Flammable Liquids or Gases
    Please note that items that use flammable liquids or gases cannot be returned if used because they create a safety hazard. For example, if you filled your leaf blower or generator with fuel, it cannot be returned via UPS or mail even if you drain the tank before shipping. Please call 1-800-430-3376 for instructions.
  • Mattresses, Pillows & Bed Linens
    Mattresses, pillows and bed linens must be returned within 30 days of delivery in their original, unopened packaging.
***Store Credits***

Q. Do store credits expire?
A. Store credits do not have an expiration date.

Q. I lost my Store Credit, how can I get it replaced?
A. Unfortunately, Store Credits cannot be replaced.

***Gift Cards***

Q. Where can I purchase Gift Cards?
A. You may purchase The Home Depot Gift Cards at your local store or online on thier Gift Card Center.

Q. What denominations are Gift Cards available in?
A. Gift Cards are available in any denomination between $5 and $5,000.

Q. Can lost Gift Cards be replaced?
A. Unfortunately, Gift Cards are like cash; if lost, they cannot be replaced.


***Special Order Products***

Special order products are products that are not stocked in The Home Depot stores, but are available by placing a special order directly with the manufacturer. Special order products can take up to 6 weeks to be delivered to the store. Most special order products are delivered to the store for the customer to pick up; exceptions are larger items and equipment. All special orders must be paid for at the time the order is placed.

Q.How long does it take for special order products to arrive?
A. Depending on the product and the manufacturer the product is ordered from, special order products can take up to 6 weeks to be delivered. You should confirm expected delivery time with your local store when placing the order to assure the delivery timeline meets your need.

Q. Can special order products be shipped to my home?
A. Most special order products can only be shipped to The Home Depot store where the order was placed. Exceptions are large items and equipment that can be delivered directly to your home. You should check with your local store when placing the order to confirm home delivery.

Q. Where can I check the status of my special order?
A. You may contact the store where the order was placed or access the status online at www.homedepot.com/orderstatus.

Q. Can I return or cancel a special order or custom-made product?
A. Some special order returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Cancellations may be subject to 15% restocking fee. See the Special Services Desk at your local store for details. Custom-made products cannot be returned or exchanged.

***Store Hours***

Q. Where can I find the store hours to my local store?
A. You should contact your local store for store hours prior to visiting.

Q. What holidays are the stores closed?
A. This could vary by store. All stores are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Please contact your local store for hours of operation on other holidays.

***Store Finder***

Q. Where can I find the location of and directions to a store near me?
A. Use our online Store Finder to locate the store nearest you. Also, most stores are listed with local telephone directories and driving directions can be mapped by using most online mapping sites.

Q. Where can I find a list of "new" The Home Depot stores near me?
A. Visit our "Recent Store Openings" page for a list of stores opened in the last six months.
***Clinics***
Q. Where are The Home Depot clinics offered?
A. We offer FREE national How-To Clinics, Do-It-Herself Workshops and Kids Workshops in our stores. Contact your local store or visit homedepotclinics.com for information on upcoming clinics.

Q. Where can I find out about clinics in my local store?

Q. How can I register for clinics in my local store?

This one is wrong... i worked at HD for almost 8 yrs and they never issued rainchecks.
