For fast, easy returns, keep your receipt. It not only ensures that you get the proper credit for your purchase, but it also helps our associates process your return quickly.
Returns with an original sales receipt within 90 days of purchase, subject to exceptions below
- Any purchase made by credit card will be refunded to the original credit card
- Any purchase made by cash or with a debit card will be refunded in cash*
- Any purchase made by a check that has cleared the 10-day waiting period will be refunded in cash*
- Any purchase made by a check that has not cleared the 10-day waiting period may be refunded as a Store Credit
- Any purchase made by Store Credit, Gift Certificate or Gift Card will be refunded as Store Credit
Returns with an original sales receipt after 90 days of purchase
- A Store Credit or credit to a Home Depot Commercial credit account may be issued for the original purchase price**
Returns without a sales receipt
- Receipts for purchases made in the past 90 days by credit, debit or check may be able to be looked up for you
- If we are unable to look up your receipt because you did not pay with one of the options listed above, or for any other reason, a Store Credit or credit to your Home Depot Commercial credit account may be issued based on the lowest selling price. The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason.
Exceptions
- Some Special Order returns subject to a 15% restocking fee. Cancellations may be subject to 15% restocking fee. See the Special Services Desk for details
- Gasoline Powered Equipment: Returns allowed within 30 days of purchase with an original receipt. No returns, including refunds, exchanges or credits, will be issued without an original receipt. After 30 days, item may be sent out for repair at the customer's expense, unless covered under warranty.
- No returns on the following products: Custom made products, custom tinted paint department products, Gift Cards and Gift Certificates
Note: Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, and Store Credit cannot be exchanged or returned for cash, credit or check. The Home Depot reserves the right to request valid identification prior to accepting merchandise for a return. The Home Depot reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason. The Home Depot will only accept the return of merchandise purchased from a The Home Depot store. Purchases made at EXPO Design Center, Home Depot Supply, Home Depot Landscape Supply, The Floor Store or any other Home Depot Company may not be returned at The Home Depot, unless the item is stocked/sold in the returning store. Items purchased at a Canadian or Mexican Home Depot may not be returned in the U.S. Purchases made with a Customer Agreement must be returned to the same location where originally purchased. *Home Depot may issue a check for refunds over $1,000 (checks are mailed from Home Depot's Store Support Center in Atlanta, GA).
**Sales tax will not be refunded on purchases over 90 days in Massachusetts or Connecticut; or without a receipt in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
