Anybody done this? DH wants to do this and I was curious how the wording on the Home Depot $3 coupon reads (whether it is only good on LED light strings or whether it is good on replacement LED bulb packages too).

Went to HD and they even had signs up advertising the deal so I think it should be fairly easy to do...however, I could not find any LED's I WANTED.

They stopped carrying solid colored LED's in the c3 and mini domes this year..they only have pale white (you know the ones that look blue) and multi colored :( In fact Lowes stopped too....in fact Target only has blue white and multi (no green or red) At least a kudos to target they have warm wight LEDs (new to mass production this year thank GOD I couldn't stand those flourescent looking "wihte" ones)

HOWEVER, no RED or GREEN solid LEDS in the small size - which were so abundant last year, when I finally want to buy them this year.

I bought out two Flower Factory stores in cleveland ! Of all places, so if youre looking for those order online LOL Home depots selection is quite LIMITED

I only want to cover one big tree - this is insane :)

IT is only for the light strings, not the replacement bulbs.

They start at $5.97 in my store. (Philadelphia Market) It may vary at the different stores.

I was going to do this, had 4 strings of 100 to trade in, but I couldn't find a string of 100 LED's, so I would have ended up buying many more then 4 strings. Decided to keep the ones I had this year. I'll have to check out the prices after Christmas

You may want to check the week before Christmas too. In previous years, the 25% markdown started a few days before Christmas.
