Now did I interpreted wrong?
Because my friend went to HT for me and bought 4 kleenex boxes. The sticker said (4/7). So I had her take 4 (or is it that I do not need to buy 4)? Three were lotion and one ultra soft. Q were all $.40/1 trippled it's 1.20. At the register she was told she can only use 3 coupons.
I am right that she should be able to use all 4 and all trippled since they are diffrent items, and even if not the coupon should be doubled. Or am I wrong? Can someone explain this to me, please? | The policy does TECHNICALLY say 3 like items, however most managers and cashiers that I have encountered have interpreted that as you can only use 3 like coupons. Their reasoning is that no matter what variety, you are getting the same type of item (in your example above all are canned vegetables of the same brand). I find it's not worth arguing and just do multiple transactions instead. I think the way you posted doing it it is very YMMV.
Also in the case of Kleenex you did not need to get 4 to get the sale price. It is rare that a sale at HT requires you to buy a certain number of items to get the sale price. 4/$7, 2/$3, 4/$5 and other similar pricing is a marketing ploy to get people to think they have to buy that number or to make it sound like a better deal. For some reason people tend to think 4/$5 sounds cheaper than $1.25 each. IF you have to buy that number it says so in the ad or on the price sticker on the shelve (Ex "Must buy 4 to get sale price"). When they have Buy 2 get 3 Free sales is an example of when they usually require that you purchase five items to get the sale price, but it will be posted on the signs and in the ad that you MUST Buy Five.

The coupon policy states after 3 like items, the q will be redemed at a face value or smth like that, does'nt it?
I did not buy vegies, it was just an exemple that I used. |
Yep, it does say that. You can try pointing it out and tell them you don't mind if the register only gives you face value. However, you may have a picky person who will override your coupons after 3 so they only give face value. As I said before, it is really just easier to do multiple transactions. I go to the self check out when it's not busy and tell the cashier at the front I have more than one transaction to do. This way others are not standing behind me waiting--they can go to the other self check outs as they open up. I know you were using veggies as an example. I was just using your example to explain what I've been told at the store about that type of scenario.

| Re: Harris Teeter FAQ This is something I have argued and won.
IF HT wanted it as LIKE COUPONS, then why don't they say LIKE COUPON? They have it stated in the IP portion "LIKE MANUFACTURER" so I think they do it on purpose. Making it 3 like items instead of coupons, makes it more difficult for shelf cleaners (assuming the cashiers enforce the rules).
Muir Glen tomatoes are a good example. I have oodles of the $.75Q for ANY tomato product...is a cashier going to tell me that The Tomato Sauce is the same thing as Fire Roasted tomatoes as the tomatoes with no added salt as the Muir glen Spagetti Sauce? They are the same size can (except spagetti sauce) and the same price (except Spagetti sauce) but different products. And same goes for The Sweet Sue $.75 off ANY poultry product, there is chicken broth, chicken n dumplins, and canned chicken, they are not all like ITEMS, they are like MANUFACTURER that I am using my like COUPONS on.
I think that it is misunderstood and it only takes one person that is training to screw up a whole bunch of employees.

| Re: Harris Teeter FAQ The limit at HT is three identical coupons per day. So you won't be able to use five.
The official HT coupon policy does say "No orders may be separated that would allow the 20 coupon limit to be exceeded. We double up to three identical items with manufacturer coupon; additional coupons for like item will be honored at face value."
On the Herbal Essences Qs, that's a mileage may vary situation. But some managers won't allow it.

I always wondered about that. I don't shop at HT enough to be able to discern a pattern (I'm hoping to change that by couponing - I love their stores).
It makes sense about the b2g3 specials they do (I love when they do this with their deli meats/cheeses), because they don't specify the price in the ads, even when it's something that would be all the same price (like a case of soda, as opposed to something like their deli stuff, which varies). Thanks for clarifying that. |

| Re: Harris Teeter FAQ Sorry if this is a repeat, but I have a question/vent...
Has anyone ever had the cashier tell you that you couldn't use a $1/2 coupon on B1G1F items?
As many times as I've done it, I was informed today that HT DID NOT accept those coupons on B1G1F. Boy was I hot!!!
