QUESTION How should this coupon have worked with the sale and a coupon deal more than store brand.

    1.
I was a little shocked to see Blue Bunny ice cream for $7.39.
    B1G1 free = $3.69 each. Coupon was .55/1 = $2.59.
The HT store brand, every day price, is $2.50 each.
I did not use the coupon and just got the HT brand.
Maybe the .55 will work better at another store, like BL.

    2.
The shelf price said $1.99. Sale was B1G1 free.
    I had 5 free coupons.
I was expecting all 10 items to be free. They were a couple, or three weeks ago. I thought I was buying 5 for $1.99 and getting 5 free (= the sale), then using my 5 free coupons to pay for the 5 that I was buying.
    OOP = $0.00.
CS and I had a very friendly, elongated, polite, conversation, and I was unsucessful in explaining my view point.
I ended up sending 5 items back and getting the 5 free using my coupons. I left thinking I had used 1+ coupons to pay for 5 items that were on sale for B1G1 free.
CS explained that each item cost $1.00. I referred to the shelf price of $1.99. CS explained that I was getting all 10 for $5.00 = great deal.
I knew that, but sent 5 back and let my 5 coupons cover the 5 that I left the store with. Was CS correct?

I remember being advised in another thread, that f2 ree coupons could be used on B2G3 free coupons, and the two free coupons would be applied to the B2.

    Thanks.

I think (key word, here, think - lol - I could be completely wrong) that this is their logic:

You CAN buy one item at half price when they have a B1G1F deal

    BUT

You CAN'T just buy one item at a discounted price when they have B2G3F sales - you HAVE to buy all five items to get the deal.

Therefore - you are buying two items (that's why you would be allowed to use the two free coupons) and getting three for free. But with a B1G1F you are actually buying all the items at half price.

I do see your point - I am just telling you what I think maybe they were thinking - clear as mud?

None of the grocery stores I shop at (HT, LF, FL and Kroger) have true BOGO sales. They are really 50% off. It would be much easier on everyone if they just called it what it is.

Since they ring up half price, there is no "free" one. So a coupon for a free item will still get you just one free item. You could use them anytime and get them free whether they are on sale BOGO or full price at 1.99.
As PHMom said, the B2G3F ring up differently so you truly do get 3 free.

The drug stores (CVS, WG, RA) all have true BOGO sales. You have to buy 2 - one item alone will ring up full price. And if you use a free coupon on a BOGO sale, you will indeed get 2 items free.

I agree with PP I wish they will just call it half off!

Im glad they got rid of the 1 coupon per BOGO policy bec they wanted their cake and eat it too! I had words with a manager about this. I used a free coupon on a BOGO sale and they would only gave me half off bec its technically a 50% off sale. Off course the next time I wanted to use 2 coupons on a BOGO sale, it was coupon fraud bec eventhough they rang up 50% off, its technically BOGO sale. Same manager. Uhm, okay. She'd hover to see what Im buying and if she saw BOGO items in my order, remind the cashier to only take one coupon for those items without even knowing which coupons I had. I would have LOVED to be a fly on the wall when she was informed of the new policy!!!

B1G1 free- each item rings at half price.
    so 50% off
Most of the time the ad will specify that it rings at half price.

B2G3- the first 2 ring at full price and the other 3 are free.

I have an extremely accommodating store, so many times my experience is smooth where it is not for others. . .

BUT I share your shock over the price of Blue Bunny ice cream. When did this happen? When I was a kid --admittedly a while ago -- Blue Bunny was a low-end ice cream brand. I so smugly printed off my BB coupons last week envisioning ultra cheap ice cream. I left with no ice cream at all.

We have another chain that will have a similar sale any week now.
    They, and HT take turns.
We'll see the regular price there. I'm thinking around $5.50.
