Things I wish Harris Teeter would do
Accept competitor target printable coupons just like bi lo
up the number doubled per day to 25
have more than one person at the register at 8am
if they have the ad a week ahead of time why don't they hire someone that goes thru the coupon to see which items fly off the shelves first that way they can order more of that item

I am just very thankful that HT is still doing SD in this very trying economy! I have my gripes but I am trying to stay positive and remember that they don't have to offer SD at all.
Wishlist - updated 5/10 & NBPN rebates for NC!
People abused past policies, so they changed. The store personnel do know what is on sale and will be a good deal - they do not have to guarantee everone will be able to get a free item. The store is in business to make money, they know exactly what they are doing.
Ask yourself how much do you shop at HT and pay full price for an item? Or even shop without benefit of SD's?
Actually, the percentage of my shopping at HT has grown from miniscule to at least 60% over the last two years. I was a dedicated Wally World shopper (with q's of course) because I was positive that I could do better at there than at HT. Since that time, I've learned how to utilize my coupons better and now, I realize far greater savings at HT than I do at any other store.
So to answer your question, I'm there at least once a week, SDs or no. And yes, quite often I'll buy full-price items because my coupons work with their prices AND I think they've earned my loyalty. Occasionally this means I spend a bit more OOP than I might at Wally World or FL, but I figure it balances out - they save me so much money with doubles, SDs, and triples that I don't mind the slightly higher OOP now and again. Plus, the convenience of not going to two or more stores saves me time, effort, and gas.
The SD is what drew me into HT this time- with out it I would have never gone (or at least no time soon).
It is a great marketing ploy and in my case it has worked- I will be going there frequently now. But if everything I had wanted had been cleared out- I would have been discouraged and most likely not go back after SD. But in my stores case- they had plenty of stock (on most things) and the experience was great so now they have earned a loyal customer.
Of all the grocery stores in competition with HT where I live (Kroger, Lowes, Food Lion, Aldi, WalMart SCenter, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's), their policies are fair and evenly enforced.
They train their staff well so using coupons is not a constant battle to 'explain policy' - even when the policy is updated, their cashiers know it and it's applied without hassle.
Their sales offerings are better week to week than the other stores more times than not.
I do the bulk of my shopping at HT and even just picking off the loss leader deals at the other stores, according to my spreadsheet, I save the most, far and above, all other stores, and that's measurable not only in total $ saved, but the percentage of that savings directly associated with coupon $ saved.
They're winning me over routinely and as a result, I'm loyal![]()
Coupons are found money - who walks by money on the ground??
Saving money ~ it's a way of life, not an attitude
AMEN!... I was in a store tonight..and I was a bit embarrassed to hear one lady complaining all the way through the store about how she was upset about the the shelves empty..gosh.. sometimes I think one or two bad apples ruin it for all of us at times.. I heard the managers discussing how this lady was behaving.. I am glad I am a very dignified couponer.. I know my coupons are not expired, for the items I purchase and within the guidelines..that is all that matters..If I am able to get 2 or 3 visits in a week..that is 60 coupons..woohoo!HT!!!!
This past week was my first HT shopping trip ever! (except that time I needed chicken and they were 24 hours)
Although they were out of stock on many things i wanted, they still had some GREAT deals! Like the Clinical Strength Gillette Deodorant. I've been searching for a good deal on that and have a hard time believing i could get it down to .01 overage ANYWHERE else!
Not to mention, the management was very helpful with some HT questions I had as a first time shopper, and the great attitude the cashier and store associates had!
They won me over for SD's that's for sure!
