    Default Meal Deal Raincheck?

I went to HT in Burlington NC yesterday afterwork, and wanted to get the MD for this week. I got the salad, dressing croutons soda, lasagna and they were out of the garlic toast, so I figured I would just get a raincheck. I put it all back on my way to the register, checked out (w/ no coupons except a recyclebank, I felt ashamed! ;) and then I went to the desk to get a RC. She told me that they were substituting a different brand for the toast. I told her that I had just put everything back where it belongs and do not have time to jog back trough the store. She hmmphs me and points to the manager in the white shirt, and tells me "he will HAVE to approve it"...I said "I'll wait" and then I heard him say they ran out of something else and they would have to start giving them. So she comes back and says "Well, you are lucky we ran out of something else, or we would not be able to do the raincheck, please remember that in the future". Is it me, or should I have not been urked by this?

Everytime I go to this store it seems there is some issue when requesting RC's as if I am bothering them.

Howdy, neighbor! So sorry you had trouble at our HT - I actually have a meal deal RC that I didn't even ask for. I bought the Gorton's fish taco meal deal a couple of months ago but neglected to get the taco sauce. When I went to the counter to ask about how to deal with the missing taco sauce, the woman at the CS desk insisted on giving me an RC for the whole thing. With the new Gorton's coupon that just came out and SDs coming up, I guess I'll be taking advantage of it.

I find that the B'ton HT is hit-or-miss. It really depends on what time and day you go. I've had some great experiences but on the other hand, I actually had to call corporate on 'em once or twice. There's a particular white shirt that knows me on sight now, as I nearly called corporate while still in the store. I can't even remember now what the issue was, but the poor guy almost begged me not to call corporate before I gave him a chance to fix the matter. He said he didn't want to be "blindsided" by a complaint.

The cashiers also seem to be hit-or-miss - some are very friendly and have no problems with my q's but there are quite a few that like to do the coupon police thing. There's a younger manager with long hair that seems to be particularly nitpicky - she and I have had a few run-ins, resulting in me calling corporate at least once. The last time, corporate told her she was wrong and since then? She tends to stay far away from me.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with our HT. I do wish they'd watch their stock levels better, especially during coupon events. The last SDs, they were a bit better; I noticed them restocking more frequently. It was a nice change from the barren shelves I'm used to, LOL.

Anyway, sorry you had a hard time with them. I'd say you're right to be irritated if the attitude was less than friendly. Complain to the white shirt and let them know that you might pass along your impressions to corporate.
