Need help understanding doubling?

So I did my first HT shopping trip today. I'm new to couponing. I've tried before and not had much luck, but I think it was the lack of coupons that deterred me. THis time around both me & my husband are printing them and I'm getting them from family's sunday papers.

So anyway I go today and had 12 coupons. Some of them clearly said no doubling or tripling. But as I'm looking at my receipt tonight they only doubled 3 coupons. I'm wondering if they don't double online printed coupons? Cause I used like 3 that were actually clipped from the paper. Any ideas?

Were the ones that didn't double a $1.00 or over; cause those don't double.

agree with anaj could be they were $1 ones they only double up to $.99
