BOGO Steamfresh, how is it supposed to work?

I just bought 4 at FL
2 regular steamfresh
2 lightly sauced

They rang up half price and the BOGO coupon scans fine and says Write $2.49 (or 2.69) depending on where you buy them (Lowes Foods or Food Lion). so essentially you get 4 bags for free.

HT is messed up when it comes to BOGO sales. They want it both ways:

Only one coupon on two items in a BOGO sale, "because you are actually getting one free."
This logic is faulty because obviously you are just paying 1/2 price for each.

BOGO sale + BOGO coupon means you get half price off "because you are only paying half price for each"
This actually makes sense. If you use a BOGO coupon on any other item that is on sale, for instance if something is on sale at 2/5.00 and regular price is 3.99, you would not expect to have 3.99 taken off with a BOGO coupon, it would take off 2.50 and no one would think anything of it.

That said, I bought 2 Steamfresh today. I had a "free" coupon for a bag.
It was very busy and the young teenage cashier looked at the screen and punched in 2.65 because the discount wasn't showing. Manager came over for an override. I didn't plan it that way, I was prepared to pay 1.32 for both.

By the way, what did the corporate people say when you asked them? I'm guessing they didn't have an answer either.

I totally agree! They want it both ways. The item does ring half price as advertised in their ads but when it come to using coupons they say "one at full price and the other is free" totally confusing!!

Update***

Just to give you an update. I went back to the store to pick a few things (along with everyone else in town). The manager asked me to introduce myself next time I was in and he had a gift certificate for me. I was standing in line checking out when the cashier/asst mgr at the next register yelled to my cashier "Watch her coupons" My cashier turned around and said "What" the girl again said "I said watch her coupons". My cashier was embarrassed and turned around and immediately apologized. After I checked out I introduced myself to the manager who was then in the asst. mgrs line like he was checking out some groceries for himself. I went over, introduced myself and said "I'm the lady you asked to introduce myself to you and I'm also the lady who this person just embarrassed by yelling to my cashier to watch my coupons as if I was trying to steal something!"

I am being targeted and it feels terrible. My hubby says to just stop shopping there, we are lucky enough to not depend on my couponing, but it upsets me to let her win. I think I'm giving up on HT!

Why did the manager give you a gift certificate?
That SOUNDS GOOD!

As for the cashier, you should go through THAT cashier's line every chance you get, and when all your coupons are PROPER and correct, the JOKE will be on that cashier.
That cashier will be embarassed when they look at your coupons under the microscope and can not find anything wrong.

If there is one store where I have had an issue with 2 coupons on items that ring up 1/2 price it is FL. Not all the time, but some time.

At least you have a cashier watching you, and not a manager. We had a new manager at BL and one time I went there with 8 like coupons, I noticed the manager was new. Well, at the self scan, 4 scanned and 4 did not, same coupon, all upc 5, good date, correct item.
So, the manager had to get involved. She was sooooo bent out of shape over 8 like coupons. She read the coupon and tried to say only one coupon PER ORDER, not per item. I knew this to be wrong.
Several times after that she would see me in the store, and a couple times she came over and looked at my coupons.

Nothing wrong and she was FORCED to walk away.

I've had cashiers ask me where I got 8 like coupons. I say the truth, family, friends, neighbors give me their inserts. No crime, and I'm sure the manufacturer is glad I'm buying 8 of their products.
