It's before coupons!!!
With all the confusion over whether the $.38/lb. turkey price WYB $40 is before or after q's, and whether the turkey price itself can be counted towards that $40 total, I wondered if anyone has begun working up scenarios for this. I'm pretty well stocked from SDs but I think I could still easily find $40 (before q's) worth of items to buy.
Does anyone want to share some scenarios based on whether the $.38 is before or after q's, and with the turkey included / not included? I'd love to get some ideas.
TIA!
It's before coupons!!!
Harris teeter states that its after coupons.
Okay, just spent awhile on EL to see if I could come up with something that works and here's one potential scenario based on what we'd actually use. Unit prices from EL are shown before the q values below. Hope I got my math right!
2x Country Crock (BOGO), $3.29, $.40/1 = $2.49
2x La Brea Baguettes (BOGO), $2.99, $1/2 = $1.99
4x Progresso (BOGO), $2.79, $1/4 = $4.58
3x Powerade (BOGO), $1.89, $.50/1 = $2.67 (note: this may not work depending on how HT decides to enforce their "3 like items" policy...)
1x Milk = $2.47
1x Danimals Coolision, $2.00, $1/1 (catalina) = $1.00
2x Wholly Guacamole, $3.99, $4/1 = FREE
3x Pillsbury Sweet Rolls (8 ct.), $1.67, $.35/1 = $2.91
2x Pillsbury Sweet Rolls (5 ct.), $1.85, $.50/1 = $1.70
1x Pillsbury Sweet Rolls (5 ct.), $1.85, $.35/1 = $1.15
Use 2x $3 OYNOs
Sub-Total, before q's and turkey: $42.13
Sub-Total, after q's, cats, and with a 22 lb. turkey: $24.22
Get back $3 OYNO (Pillsbury)
Grand total: $21.22
I still need to look at some other scenarios but I'd be pretty happy with this.
if I do decide to try this turkey deal, I think I will use the $40 to stock up on meats that I need. also I need more canned tomatoes. so I would use my B2G3 FREE for the Tuttorosso tomatoes, and that should take up about $10 worth of the total (without coupons) for 10 cans. then the rest would be bread, produce, cheese, milk, and meats. that should do it. I usually wouldn't spend this much at one time but might as well get everything in one trip. wonder if they have a good deal on sweet potatoes yet? ooo I can get some chocolate morsels too, I need some of those..even with the coupon they will still be a little expensive.
My cashier at HT confirmed for my today that the turkey deal was $40 before coupons. Assuming that, it is pretty easy to come up with $40 scenarios that require very little OOP.
One, if you did the GM pink deal, you have an $8 cat this week that will cover $8 in purchases without any coupons, or more if you buy items with coupons.
Second, if you have more than one $8m, but your store only allows you to use one per transaction (as mine does), you can sort of convert one or more of the other $8 cats into a couple $3 cats by doing the buy (6) Kleenex or Pillsbury cat deals before your turkey transaction. I did the Kleenex deal twice, so now have $6 in cats I can use in the same transaction as the one remaining $8 cat.
That means I now have $14 of the $40 "covered" just in those cats I can use. Add to that some freebies this week with IP coupons (2 Ghiradelli bars @ $1.50 each, 2 wonka gummies @ $1.50 each, 2 wholly guacamole @ $4 each) and that "covers" $28 of your purchase price before you spend any OOP money.
At that point, you can buy almost anything else you need (I plan on doing the Lipton deal with upcoming Skippy coupons, plus a Hellman's IP) and get to the $40 paying very little OOP.
The $40 seems like a big number, but since it is before coupons it really isn't that bad. Now if I only had freezer room for that turkey....
Hi,
Don't forget to use your Pharmacy $20 VIC Credits for new, refilled, or transferred prescriptions if you have a new store (i.e. Grand Opening) that offers this program. Each time a new store has a Grand Opening event, you can receive a $20 Pharmacy credit on your VIC Card. See previous posts by me on this subject.
For those of you in N VA area, the Grand Opening for the new store in Manasass, VA is still going on for the $20 VIC Credit Rx Specials. I have some $20 credits to use for this turkey promo and will also my "deals" with coupons.

Honestly, not very proud of myself with this one! I'm not sure it was worth all the trouble for a $5 turkey! BUT, I plan to use the Thanksgiving meal rebate here with this receipt. It shows the turkey as being 19.31 before discounts so that combined with veggies I should get $10 back! :)
I LOVE NBPR and NWPR rebates valid in VA!!!
