Harris Teeter: A raincheck oddity

I never noticed this before. Yesterday evening when I got a rc at HT, the cs person went to the computer and spent about 3 minutes doing something. Then they wrote a sequence of numbers on the raincheck.
Anyone else noticed this? What is it for? Are they tracking rainchecks now?

They are supposed to be tracking what they write rainchecks for so that they can do a better job of keeping stock on the shelves. In my opinion, it's just a major pain and isn't doing anything to help stock. It's such a joy having to stand at the customer service desk for 15 minutes if I want five rainchecks and keep my 4 year old and 2 year old happy for those 15 minutes.

i think they can also go to the computer to check if they have any in stock in the back. but yeah then having to look it up and get some code, can be time consuming

I have found that certain employees do it and others don't....I think they also do it to double check the price....The monthly sale items don't show on the computer from what I have seen.
