I love the pdf coupons that are good to the end of the year.

Mine sometimes don't scan, but I haven't had them denied. If they did not scan and weren't accepted, I don't think I'd say anything though, because that is their policy.

I print from 2 different computers. I think one of mine produces a good (laser) the other one, not so great (ink jet).

If they accepted the customer's coupon ahead of me that didn't scan, and then didn't accept mine, I'd be a little annoyed though. They should be consistent.
I have sent Palermo a message. After submitting the inquiry, I got this:

One of our pizzaiolos will be contacting you within a few days regarding your comment.

So, the next time you meet one of their employees you know they are referred to as "pizzaiolos"

I got a reply from Palermo. Here was their advice:
    Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting us with your comments about our pizzas.

Something that has worked in the past is when people change their printer settings to a photo setting. This will allow for better quality and image clarity so they can be scanned.

Thanks again for contacting us and welcome to the family or saluti dalla famiglia as we like to say!

    Sincerely,
    D.

So basically they are saying it's your printer's fault? That's sort of back handed advice there, even if it is your printer. I have a B&W laser printer I use for all my coupons and it doesn't have a photo setting. That advice would be useless to me. Did you tell them about the coupons looking fake when printed? Too bad they didn't offer to send you some free coupons. I used to get Palermo's before I had to cut gluten out of my diet and I remember them being yummy.

No matter how good your internet coupon looks after it comes off your printer, it could have easily been a photo copy from Office Depot.

The guy in front of me had his coupon cut out, and nice color. Mine were are thinner paper, no color.

My printer is set on "normal" and not "better" quality. My coupon may have been 10% too light, but the guy's great color coupon did not scan either.

That response from Palermo was by e-mail. I'll call them and maybe speak to someone else.

I have never seen an internet coupon that was so perfect it could not be a copy, they all print the same, and standard printing paper is standard. Again, this is why, in 2009, my HT said bring the whole page. But on these coupons and some others, when it prints, all you get is the coupon in the middle of the page, and nothing more. So, me taking the entire page was no different than if I had cut it out.

The sale is over and too late for me to print another one, darker, etc. and go back and try it.

My hope would be that Palermo puts their coupons in inserts and abandon the internet coupons if they won't scan for a certain % of the users.
If I need (5) I'll trade for them on HCW. Five cents each or whatever. That beats getting to the store, only to find out after all your groceries are rung up, that the coupon won't scan and they won't take it. I'd rather trade for some insert Palermo coupons on HCW and scrap the internet ones.

I doubt anyone has a printer and the type paper used for inserts (as well as something to put on the back of it to make it look like an insert coupon), so it boils down to "your coupon may scan and it may not."

Out of 100 Palermo internet coupons, I'm sure there are dozens of different printers, and thickness of paper and ink quality, and the rest.
And what % of user's had their coupons scan properly and how many did not scan. Out of the ones that did not scan, how many were flatly refused. We do not know the numbers. Clearly a YMMV on this particular internet coupon. I do not know about the other ones, the $1/1 that some people had. Mine were the $1/2.

HT has to make the decision, I guess, on whether they think the coupon is, or is not, a photo copy. If a copy, I guess Palermo won't re-imburse them.

I have never had an issue with the Palermo coupons scanning AT ALL. I am sorry if I am a pest but I think it is wrong for us to blame Palermo on it since we have a good number of people for whom it worked well. I actually dislike the bricks type internet coupons since they download a lot of bloatware on the computer. I think providing PDF coupons or coupons in general with very long validity is already very generous.

One thing I do with the coupons is to make the PDF print settings to Shrink to fit. I have seen Palermo coupons printing as almost a whole page size.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. I love the pizza and grateful for the coupon. I hope they keep posting new ones.

I went to Palermo's site and signed up. They sent me a coupon by e-mail.
It was a PDF and when I printed it, out it was about the size of a regular insert coupon, the kinb you find running vetically on the bottom ot top corner of a page, 2x5 inches, etc.

Looking at the UPC code, it does not look "healthy" to me.

The vertical lines look fragmented. I used a new black ink cartridge and set the preferences for printing to "best" quality. I will try this coupon today at another store chain. Outside of buying a new printer, I'm not sure what else I can do.
There is really nothing on an internet coupon that proves it is 100% real.
I can see why the stores have limits on internet coupons.
    Insert coupons look veeery real.

the Palermo adventures continue. I signed up on their site and they were nice enough to send me a $1/1 coupon by e-mail. I printed it and tried it at a different store chain. It would not scan there either.
The asst. manager said it would not scan "because" it was an "internet coupon".

PLEASE......the electronic scanner does not know the difference between an insert coupon or an internet coupon.....(I do not think)......if it does the manufacturers need to code these coupons so they'll scan.

I was not about to challenge this "again" but before I had a chance to, here comes "and normally we do not take internet coupons, but we will on this one."

News to me that this store chain did not take internet coupons. Another (-) for them in my book....(hint: FL)

Sounds like an issue with your printer. One of my printers (laser) produces coupons that scan perfectly. The other (ink jet) can sometimes be a problem.

new ink cartridges and preferences set on "best" quality is about all I can do.

just because the coupon does not scan, does not mean it is not a real internet coupon, and not some copy bought on Ebay.
