Why would she scowl? Coupons are full payment, just like cash to the store. She must be lacking an understanding of coupon economics.

I went to use a free coke 12 pk when they were bogof and the cs person that did the over ride (not a white shirt) tried to tell me I could only get half price off. I copped an attitude real quick and she tried to argue...then she read the coupon again and had a change of heart. she claimed that she thought my Q was a BOGO Q not just an outiright free one.

Seriously! They take it so personally sometimesAnd they obviously don't have a clue about how the stores get reimbursed on coupons by the manufacturers.

It's a shame isn't it?

I usually love HT shopping but I've had some really terrible experiences at my closest store all involving the same white shirt- one involving the interpretation of "one coupon per purchase" (she mistakenly took this to mean one per transaction). I've posted on here previously about her and locals know exactly who I'm talking about even without a physical description. I used to shop at my closest HT at least once a week but now I do so probably only once a month. I've moved my biz for produce and milk to the Lowe's across the street and do my HT q shopping at another store- a further drive for me but worth not dealing with the aggravation this person has provided. There have even been times where I've popped in armed with q's and turned right around as soon as I saw her in there. I shouldn't be made to feel like a criminal for shopping with q's.

I stopped by there last week for some steaks and used two different types of winetags - one for $5 off $10 worth of meat and the other for $1 off meat. I bought a pack of filet mignon and a separate pack of ribeyes. Wouldn't you know it that the white shirt I've had issues with was on duty when the $5 one beeped due to the coding. She strolls up, scrutinizes each of the winetags for what seemed like five minutes, then questioned whether I bought $10 worth of meat (the filet rang up at $10.99 after vic special) and finally rang up the $5 q for $4. I had emailed HT customer service before about it, so I suspect she did this on purpose to get one over on me for negative feedback or something. I looked at the screen and looked at her, she looked at the screen after I did but nothing. I wasn't in the mood for an argument or an eye roll or anything like that over a $1 so I paid and left. And then emailed HT customer service as I've just about had it with her attitude.

The manager contacted me late last week and I spoke with him about my experiences. He's on vacation this week but promised to call me when he got back so he could set up a time for us to meet and so he could give me a gift card to get my business back. We'll see how that works out but I did appreciate the phone call and the apology.

Good for you! There is one such pain in the behind at my local HT too, she is obnoxious beyond words. Fortunately I rarely find her there and if I do, I'm prepared to do battle with her if any of my coupons beep, should she be called over.

And the manager is the nicest man! I'm sure if I got into a problem with her that couldn't be resolved I could address him personally and get satisfaction.

I know who your talking about it. I hate her. I got fed up with her scrutinizing and plain rude behavior, I called the district manager AND the regional manager. BOTH called me back and I was sent $25 IN GC. I was also told if I ever had problems again with her to tell them right away and she would be demoted!!! Score 1 for this couponer!

I did not go there for a while, but I am not going to be scared away by some (fill in the blank). Now when I'm there, I could care less if I see her. I play by all the "rules", as not to give her any reason to mistrust me or my fellow couponers. But she knows it was me that called.

I say, all HT shoppers should stand up for themselves. Do not just call the store manager. Call the district and regional managers as well. We are not criminals and should not be treated as such. And HT does listen to our complaints.

BTW, nccouponqueen- I went to the HT you suggested and a white shirt rang me up, with all my q's. Hit the total button and congratulated me on my good job! THATS the way shopping should be.

The manager there actually asked if firing her would get me to come back in. I didn't want to cause anyone loss of a job and I said as much...but I was thinking that it would make me return to the store probably as frequently as I did before. Maybe I'll ask him for her schedule when I meet with him so I know when to avoid shopping there.

So, you tried the one on 55 and High House? It was a pleasant discovery to see how coupon-friendly they are there. I've never had an issue there and I've had my share of beeping coupons.

Simply Orange is on sale for 1.00. Makes it free if you have some of the .50 tearpads.

Hi,

I can also relate to the "white shirtitis disease". There was one person like that at a HT store here in N VA area. Fortunately, like in NC, there are plenty of other HT stores close to me if I choose not to shop at this "particular" store.

One day, when she "copped an attitude" about the coupon policy--telling me my limit was 20 coupons total and that was it! I said bring over your copy of the coupon policy--it is doubled/tripled coupons (20 coupon limit) not just 20 total coupons! She was trying to tell me that I could only use a total of 20 coupons period. I explained to her that the policy was 20 coupons would be doubled/tripled and other coupons at face value not limited to a total of 20 coupons period.

Fuming I asked for her superiors. I told her let me talk to your store manager now! I was polite and professional and she looked like a fool----normally I won't make an issue of something--but I had it with her superior knowledge--not!

She got "huffy" and got the store manager; and also the regional/district manager overheard our exchange of words. Needless to say, the clerk "white shirt" is no longer working for HT period. I received a $100 worth of gift cards recently for my "troubles". The HT managers apologized and I explained to them how insolent their employee was every time I and other customers were trying to be helpful, etc.

The managers fired her from what I heard later. Apparently, there were other complaints also. So she got "sacked" and didn't need a bagger to do it for her--just a customer who was correct--like me!

Just stand up for yourself and be correct with your knowledge, etc.

Sounds like you're nicer than me.

Yep, went to the one on 55/HHouse, and they were awesome! Hope they stay that way. There are tons of other grocery stores around here. HT is not the only store around. Been flirting with Kroger this week anyways.
