Re: Questions about the money off from other stores? Hi,
What I do for HT and Giant Foods (Giant in Metro DC/MD and VA areas and is "sister" to Stop 'N Shop stores) when the CS Clerks/Cashiers, etc. won't honor Competitor Coupons, which it states in their policies--is to write down who I speak with regarding "coupon Competitor issues." Giant honors Competitor Coupons too. Only 1 particular store do I have issues with at Giant.
Works like a charm. Recently I had a "just this one time we will take the Competitor Q" and I remarked "Well just this once I will ignore your comments since I abide by the policy and your managers just told you to honor the policy and quit making up your own rules!" Normally, I wouldn't be so crass or crude, but it just irked me that these CS Clerks not at HT but Giant here in N VA at 1 specific store, would not honor their written policies. With Giant, it is a known policy but not officially written on their web site. So I called CS for Giant (as I had also done with HT's Corporate once before) and got the official policy. I already had called Giant's Consumer Care line beforehand at home at confirmed correct policy info. I received an email stating what had transpired and had it with me for the store managers, etc.
Then I waited at the Giant CS Desk and had the CS Clerk call Giant's headquarters and confirmed with the Consumer Care Adviser's Manager, Jackie. Jackie confirmed the policy and the CS Clerk was none too pleased with me. Just stand your ground and be polite/professional.
Sorry for for the sidebar post, but I agree just be polite and firm. "Catch more flies with honey than vinegar" as my mother says. Although with this particular CS Giant clerk, she looked like yesterday that she swallowed a gallon of vinegar after she was reprimanded by her store manager.
Hope this helps--
