Harris Teeter-sub sandwich ?

I wanted to purchase a $3.99 sub today and get the 2 points. But I have a bunch of points (20ish) so the cashier said the sub would automatically be free. Not that I wanted to turn down a free sub but I want to build my points back up. The cashier used the store card so I only paid $3.99 but I didn't get any points either. So how should I be doing this? Thanks.

I'd get the free one and still pay for one if you want to build up your points that much.....you can save the other one for later.

You should only get the free one if it's $5.99. That's probably why she used the store card. When they are on sale for $3.99, you're not supposed to get them for free. I think they are supposed to give you points even if you get it for free, but could be wrong about that. I went this week while they are on sale for $3.99, but had enough points to get it for free. The cashier, who also happens to be a CSM, had to put the price in as $5.99. When I reminded her that they were on sale, she told me that in order to get it free, she had to put the price in that way. I'm not sure about this, though.
