The Mystery of the Missing Winetags!

So I popped into HT today and got some great deals on meat using some winetags and specials on stuff they were trying to sell today. I was talking to my cashier about how great the winetags are and she said the wine guys usually grab them all up. AHA!!!! I have been wondering why I couldn't find any good ones at HT lately! I hit the motherload a few weeks ago at BJ's-believe it or not-but haven't found any in a few months at HT. I'm in the Apex/Cary area. :shrug7:

I have also been noticing how few wine tags there are at HT lately. We really miss all the great ones we were getting last fall! What "wine guys" are you talking about, and how can we get them to leave some wine tags for us?!

I haven't seen winetags in the Greenville, NC area stores in over a year...and that is in any grocery store. I used to regularly find them in Food Lion...but no more.

Umm this doesn't sound right to me. Isn't it the wine guys who put the tags on the wine?

When I lived in Raleigh, I had a store manager tell me that they had requested the wine reps NOT put out wine tags anymore. This SM told me that they had problems with certain individuals coming in, taking all the wine tags off the bottles and not buying anything. I don't know if this is still the case, as it was almost two years ago, but I never did see any WT at that particular store. It doesn't make sense that the "wine guys" would take all the tags (they are hired to put them out) unless the store has requested they not distribute them. :shrug7:

My friend sells wine to the stores and she tells me if they let her put up a display then she puts out the winetags but she has also told me that she has put up whole tearpads (10 in a pack) and they are gone in 5 seconds. It's hit and miss situation. Me personally I have never seen any winetags at my HT and only found two rebate forms in all the years I have shopped there.

As for the beer rebates, I ran into a man from Miller stocking the cooler in HT a while ago, and asked him about their rebates. He said that they rarely put them out at HT because they are not able to set up freestanding cardboard displays there, and when they leave a loose tearpad, it usually falls into the cooler and gets lost under the cases of beer. He said they put most of their rebates at Food Lion because "they will let us put up any kind of display - they don't care what we do".
