    QUESTION Reading the receipt.

IM just wondering, Like when it says coupons saved is that only the manufacturer coupons that it adds up? or does it include vic savings and any discounts like the $4 instant shrek deal. Im trying to figure out exactly how much i saved but usually i just add up the coupon part versus the total i paid OOP.
So should i be adding the vic savings to it as well ?
And should i also be adding the $4 it took off and the $3 it took off for buying the totinos?
Theyre things are sooo confusing to read!

I have a receipt I'm looking at as an example:

    Balance Due 14.15
Coupons Tendered 37.46 (coupons scanned + HT VIC savings)
Total VIC savings this order 23.46 (VIC only)

So in this example, you have to do a little math to see how your savings break down:
    I used 14.00 in coupons
Without coupons I would have paid 28.15
Retail price without coupons, paying full price: 51.61

HTH - it is a little confusing!

Ok well that makes sense. i had to read it about 3 times and get my calculator out lol. so the coupons tendered already include the vic savings. so id add the coupons savedplus what i paid OOP to see what my real total would have been? I was trying to add up the before sale price. Then i tried to add the sale price. but then i get confused cuz right under neath it takes off the lil bit to make it the sale price!
Gonna make my head explode. But meh at least its all cheap in the end!
My last transaction he scanned the card last. it started out at $54 then after scanning the vic card and my coupons i paid $14 and some change! Its just nice to see how much you saved. And also how do the people on here figure out that percentage that i see people post?
So today my total i paid OOP was $28.06. The total coupons tendered was $86.05 wich is what i saved. i cant figure out how to configure that percentage thing out. for the life of me right now i cannot figure out what they call it.

There is an excellent article on how to read a Harris Teeter receipt. It was written by a blogger for the News & Observer newspaper in Raleigh, NC. Click HERE to read it.

    Percentage Saved = 1 - (Amt Pd/Original Price)

I wish the year-to-date savings showed coupons, too. Between doubles, super doubles, and triples, my savings at HT this year is probably 3 times as much as my VIC savings.

Thanks for posting that article, pasharain.
