    HOT SO mad right now: 6 coupons NOT EVEN SCANNED!

    So I just left my "good" local HT, where I have the least trouble of the three that are in a mile of my house The cashier just didn't even scan SIX of my 12 coupons. And the manager has the nerve to ask me, after I drive back up there, if anyone else has shopped with my VIC card today. Um, the coupons didn't even scan, much less triple, moron. :shrug7:

    That's exactly what I want to hear, at midnight, after I just stood there with the cashier who stiffed me, for 15 minutes, digging through her horribly organized accordion file of coupons that are in NO order, while the manager is checking out about 20 drunk college students who walked to the store from the apartment complex behind it. Apparently, she just stuffs them any old place, so that if this happens, you have to look thru hundreds of coupons, instead of the last 50 or so. Some of mine were in the middle, some in back, some in front. Luckily, I had already made a list of what all of them were. Don't ask me how I remembered that!

    My total without coupons was 18.96 plus tax. After coupons totaling $15.24 (the odd amount is because our registers don't triple above the value of the item), it should've been $3.72 plus tax. Instead, it was $13.04!!!!!:hectic1:

    WTH? I am SOOOO over it. Because I have to shop so late at night when my kids are in bed, this always happens and then they tell me to come back when the desk is open to resolve it (as if that is something I want to do with three year old twins in tow). Then I have to explain it all over again. Where does a cashier get off not even scanning HALF your freaking coupons?

    Last week, they overcharged me by more than $5 on their "Buy 3 for $4" cream cheese and bagels "sale", that wasn't programmed into the registers.

    I'm thinking it may just be time to email corporate. This is just ridiculous.

    HAIR ON FIRE! And I really wanted to get some sleep tonight...

    Sorry that happened to you. It must feel even worse when it's late at night and you are tired.
    Do you watch the monitor as the coupons are scanned? I always count the coupons as they scan and watch to make sure each one triples. That way, if they don't scan all of them I know before I pay.
    Also, did you go to cs about the cream cheese/bagel problem? They should have given your money back so that they'd be free per their scan guarantee.

    So sorry to hear about your troubles! I had this happen to me once before (and the cashier also shorted my change by $5!), but luckily I realized my total was wrong before I left the store and got it fixed at c.s. Ever since then, I count the beeps as they scan my qs to make sure the number is right. Hope you got it all resolved.

    always count the beeps and have a very good idea what your total amount due shouls be. It would have been easy for you to detect 6 misses out of 12 with a beep count. Some coupons can stick together, I've witnessed clerks "skipping" a coupon, etc.

    First off, i KNOW within about $1 of what my pre tax total should be, so if it were 15 off....I'd be questioning it. Also, I watch closely when they scan the q's it's a little harder when you hand over 20-30 qs, but 12....that should be easy to know if they didn't do half. Better luck next time!

    I had my first somewhat bad experience in HT today. Was actually more silly than bad. I should have known better and waited to check out as the open cashier was one that is always pretty surly, but I didn't want to wait. Ended up costing me more time anyway.

    Had about 20 items and 15 coupons. Before she even started scanning the product, she laid out all the coupons to check them over, apparently to make sure I didn't use two coupons on BOGO items. I had not bought any BOGO items at all, so then she she gathers the coupons back into a pile and starts to scan the items. By this time, the line is filling in behind me.

    She scans all the items, then goes to grab the coupons and she accidentally drops them and they fly all over. I politely helped her pick up a few that flew my direction, but you can now tell she is really upset. So then she starts to scan the coupons, again examining each one before she scans it.

    About half way through she stops at one coupon and tells me this coupon can't be used for triples. I ask what is the problem with it. She tells me that this coupon cannot be doubled or tripled since it is marked Do Not Double (but with barcode 5) and the manufacturer won't allow them to triple it (as if the manufacturer is going to know what they actually do). It is the only coupon of the entire 15 that is marked that way, and was only a $.50 coupon anyway, so I tell her that's fine, I'll still take the item and just give me the face value of the coupon. So rather than just scan the coupon, she pages for a manager and we have to wait several minutes for her to come and manually enter it as a $.50 coupon rather than scan it so it wouldn't triple. Meanwhile the line has gotten pretty long behind me and you can tell people are impatient.

    This HT has never before policed the DND wording on coupons, so I think it was just this cashier. But then what kind of made my day was that my $5 healthy smiles deduction came off, and my OOP was only $4.86 anyway, which I think really irritated her. {grin}

    I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience. I think if I were you, I would hand them one coupon at a time and make sure it scanned before you gave them another one. Seriously, why is the store open when there is no one there with the authority to correct customer problems. I guess just to sell beer to college students?

    I actually had a cashier at a Bloom store intentionally not scan some of my coupons. They were .55/1 Reese's peanut butter cup coupons. At the time, they had triple coupons. I had gotten the 8 pack (individual) size, which was on sale for $1.00, so I was getting $1.65 off for each (because they were allowing overage up to the full price of the item). Anyway, I always watch my Qs scan and listen for the beep. I had 5 of these coupons (20 total), and only heard 2 beep. She acted like she swipped the coupons and then I noticed she put them behind the counter. I said something to her about not hearing the "beep" and noticing the total not going down, and she said, "No, I scanned all of the coupons." I said, "No, my total isn't correct and I used 20 coupons, but only 17 scanned. Please check again." She would not check! So I called over a manager that was nearby. When the manager came over, I was just about to explain my concerns, when the cashier leans over toward the manager and (trying to whisper) says, "I didn't let her have them ALL because she would be getting the items FREE if I did." SHOCKING! The manager looked at me, and then looked at her and said, "Scan ALL of her coupons". My daughter had checked out before me with the same cashier, and had wondered why her total was too high. We checked her receipt, and sure enough she had pulled the same thing on her. I went straight to the manager that we had just dealt with and, showing her my daughter's receipt, told her that the cashier had pulled the same thing with my daughter. The manager refunded us triple the amount of the coupons that were not scanned AND appologized. Ever since then, I watch every coupon, even if I have to lean over the counter a bit AND I listen for the beeps. I do it nicely and with a smile, but I watch my coupons. HTH

    Next time, note the coupon that did not triple or double and just go to customer service and let them know that "this coupon" did not triple, show them the receipt. The coupon will already be in the drop box and too much trouble for them to go searching for the coupon. NOT that your coupon is fraudulant or anything wrong at all. I once tried to explain the 5 and 9 upc code to a HT manager and I was given the "dumb customer would know anything about ups codes look". It WOULD have scanned if your clerk had TRIED. You could have said, it will double and triple, try for yourself and scan it. When it scanned fine, they may have been surprised. That DND was not put there for HT. It was put there for the stores that do not double. Since HT doubles ALL coupons up to .99, they have no reason not to double and triple all coupons up to .99 regardless of UPC being a 5 or a 9.
